Crane Prarie/fish need to store boat 2-3 days

Hello,

Any recommendations for Crane Prarie (trout)? I will probably go regardless since it's such a darn pretty place to fish & bird watch and too long since I've been there. Also, I'm staying at Sun River and may not have a place to park the boat easily. I will probably do a day or two of water fun at Wickiup. Can anyone recommend a place to park a boat for a few days while I use it around there and commute around (I expect to pay)? Even in La Pine would be okay.

Hello Mark

Crane Prairie is my favorite place to fish for Rainbows and Brook trout.I have only been fishing Crane for six years and the amount of fish we catch has decreased over the last couple of years.But where else in Oregon can you catch Brook and Rainbow trout over 5 pounds.The lake should be quite warm now and I would suggest fishing the channels.I like to troll small rapala's,flatfish and spoons.In the past people have had good luck still fishing bugs,but try trolling at first light and the last hour of the day in the channels and I bet you catch a lunker.

Sunriver has a parking area for boats/RVs - call the SR Police for info.

Moorage at the CP resort used to be pretty cheap too.

It's a biggun', 21' Starcraft. I probably need to park on trailer the nights of July 4 & 5 or 5 & 6.

Thanks for all the tips, yes I will be tubin' on Wickiup (God forbig, no jet skis!) but don't they have separate areas for fish & ski? Is there a better lake around there for that?
