Where is everyone? Starting to get ready for the fourth? Fishing?
It's always slow this time of year, before silvers, but I'd just like to know... What are you doing?
Even I have been away from the computer the last couple of days, so I'll start!
I've been planning a trip to Las Vegas for the ASA Sportsfishing show. The kids and I are going July 16th, and we are SO excited! Where to stay.... We are not sure! Lookin for the best pool, location, and CHEAP!
Also, I have been doing bills, fly fishing out back, lounging in the sun, cooking, cleaning the house...
Talking to clients on the phone, hearing a real voice instead of reading type! That's nice!
What have you been up to?
Let's hear it!

Been working on the rockfish problem!
Jennie: You've got mail!
Lake of the Woods kokanee. Weekend before last I went with Straydog and we got over 20.
Sunday and Monday I limited (25) out before noon. No big ones but nicer than last year, 10"-12". The fish are in the weeds at 45 feet.

I've been learning how to use the driftboat more. I passed up drifting the Siletz on Sunday. My mistake. It was at a good level to drift. No mas. Now, until i get someone to tell me a another beginers drift, i'll spend some time floating through Corvallis and practicing oar work... How frustrating! Oh, surf perch may be in trouble on the 5th. Happy 4th to us all.

back to the point of the post, does anyone really want to hear about another one of my no-fish fishing trips? (yeah, ******, nice fish, as usual  ). hopefully, i'll be out on the columbia on the fourth scoring summer steelies and june hogs. also, hopefully i'll be out on the columbia again next week. i'm really hoping that spinner rig works its magic.
in the meantime, i'm working on the house and thinking i should be out trout fishing with the fly rod and float tube. at least i'd remember what it feels like to catch a fish.

OHMYGOSH!

THEY HAVE A KRISPEY KREME!
My dream come true! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
WHoooooooo Hoooooooooooo!
KK's!!!!

First off,
Jenn, when you need to get a break from the Excaliber, walk accross to NY NY, they have one there too! And then to the MGM. And I know Treasure Island has one, not to mention several others too. You may be on KK overload by the time you get back!!
Now then, I have been missing because for the last ten days I have been trying to figure out how to troll off the back of the 720', 12 storied, 1299 passenger and 540 crew carrying MS MAASDAM!
The troll speed for big Blue Marlin was just a tad fast, but the 65' drop to the water from the back of the lower promenade deck was a problem. Not to mention the fact they weren't going to stop the boat just because of a hookup and all...
And don't get me wrong, thanks to a generous set of in-laws wanting to take the entire and extended family on an all expenses paid cruise to four exotic Carribean ports o' call, it wasn't like it wasn't a good time!
But still, ******'s hog sure looks like fun too.
And there are no Krispy Kremes in Jamaica, Mon!

Been fishing. Last trip out was with my youngest son, age 10, Hagg Lake. He caught a 12"er on his first cast. Even had a tag. I told him the fish was worth a million  . Only fish of the day. Got a trip lined up on the Columbia with my older boy (age 13) - will be his first salmon/steelhead trip. Went out and got his harvest tag this evening.

Jen, Piri spent a week at a Veterinary Conf. in Vegas last year and stayed at the Excalibur. They had a great time and had nothing but good things to say about the place. She got a week in Las Vegas and I got a mug. OK, what's wrong with this picture.

The boat is ready to go.
All the gear is ready to go.
I've been off work for 7 months.
I have way too much time to fish.
And my brain is turning to mush.
Most of the time I don't even have the
desire to take the boat out, not even
on good weather days.
Please help me, I've lost that spark :depressed:

Where Bernie, in your dreams? I answered your email asking what we are using. Flo-red spinner, flo-red Flatfish/Qwikfish. On the anchor, in the current, 8 to 15 feet.
Ocean huh? Have a good time.

The Flamingo has one of the best pools in Vegas, and it's cheep. You can get rooms for $59 per night if you look. Rooms are right across from the Bellagio for the fountain show. Centrally located on the strip, you can always take the tram from Bellagio to Excalibur for a KK. Take a cab to the In & Out Burger too.

Busy at work, gardening at home (getting ready for my boy's 5th birthday on the 13th). This holiday, I will be at the house in PC, fishing and maybe crabbing. I need to get rid of some of the salmon carcasses in my freezer! Perhaps some of you all may be over that way also. Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th.

Got a late start. Spent the day out of Westport fishing upriver. You know the spot Bill? 12 feet of water. Just off the Islands.
One boat below us hooked up twice. Looked like steelhead. We landed one 30# plus Nook and had to release it. Beautiful fish and everyone was happy because we got pictures and didnt have to take it out of the water or even net it.
Lost one other small fish, long line release.
Fish checker came by and reported one other fish caught upriver.
Later in the day went down to the head of
Tenasille. The bankies were popping steelhead steady. Ran out of tide. Called it a day.

Helllllloooooo.....
Jen...say Hi to Steve Fleming for me if you see or talk to him. We made a show with him on the John Day back in March...yes March  , and we are still editing!!! It will be our best ever though..
As for what else has been happening...Work as usual, 3 shows in the "Can" and being edited, and several other shows in the works.
That ASA show sounds great. Let me know how many Fishing Shows are in attendance. I'd be curious.
Talk Soon,
