Launched in the rain and wind Saturday morning. With in a couple of hours, it got real nice on the river. Four Peelers and a bunch of large shakers made for a good day. A 59" keeper at the end made it a great day. As I was taking out, I noticed a Guide boat tied up at the dock. His tackle was in the back of the boat and as I am always looking for a better mousetrap, I took a look at his stuff. I noticed hooks that were bigger than any I have seen before. Size? I have no idea. The shank had to have been four inches long and it had to have been a 2-2 1/2" gap. And it appeared to be stainless too. As I went back to get my boat, he was walking in front of me. I made the comment that I thought his hooks were a little too big and that I thought 9/0 were the biggest we could use. He says,"Oh yeah, were did you read that?". What's the deal here. I uses 9/0 hooks and these were 3 times the size. I am sure the rule book says 9/0, or am I mistaken and should have kept my mouth shut?

As I read the general regulations, I don't see any hook size restriction for sturgeon, just single point and barbless in the Columbia.
