I made the 6 hour drive yesterday leaving at midnight  to fish Tounge Point  Sandshrimp, Smelt and Anchovies produced nada. I only say one keeper and 4 shakers caught.
I think that I will stay closer to home and fish the Cascade lakes for a while. graemlins/idea.gif

There's fish in the lower river, and some days more than others you do have to move and hunt them down. There are lots of bullheads and some shorts, and all you can do is hope you have enough bait to get though them. It seems that you have to put in your time, or just be lucky and sit down on them the first time you anchor. Sturgeon Pauls in Warrenton is still cleaning alot of fish. I will admit that it is slowing from 2-4 weeks ago. Look at all the fishing pressure, yesturday (Sat.) it look liked Buoy 10 opener out there..............Bobber Down

Cdory,

I concur, Tounge point blew. One shaker on for 30 seconds all day of fishing. Speaking of just lucky. On our way out of the J.D. Boat launch some guy pulled in there with his wife and kids and they had four keepers, one was huge. They bagged them on Sandshrimp around the Russian Island area. Said they had to move around a lot and finally landed in a pod of them. They fed bait ******s up until that point. Time to fish for Steelies.

Fished in front of Hammond for sturgies on Saturday morning. Moved twice, caught 1 keeper (released several shakers). Then moved up to the mouth of the Skippanon and boated a real nice fat one and headed home. First one caught on the outgoing and second one caught on the incoming. Sculpins were everywhere and really enjoyed the shrimp and anchovies but left the smelt alone. One fish was caught on smelt and the other was caught on a combo of shrimp and anchovie. My next trip I'll make sure I have more smelt in my bait box.

We fished Saturday in the Sturgeon Tournament and were able to find a couple places that produced, but had to move around to find them. I would guess we moved 15 times. Ended up with three keepers and one of them won the 1st prize in the tournament, 58 inches and 40 pounds. My friend received a $1,000 check. We caught fish on Anchovies, sand shrimp and smelt, so the type of bait didn't seem to make a big difference.
