I think I will have some free time on Tuesday and would like to try my hand at summer chinook. Only problem is that I have never fished the Columbia. I don't know what to use or where to go. Would anyone going out Tuesday morning be willing to let me tag along in my boat and show me where to go and what to use? I'd even offer to take you in my boat.

Hey, lipripper
Looks like I'm in the same boat as you. Meaning I have this week off work, but with the weather, we're not going camping.
I too, would like to go fish for these Summer Chinook, but don't know where or how they fish for them. Is it the same as springrer fishing? I also have a boat 19 Bayliner and have fished the Rainer area for springers, but would like to be closer to Portland.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Since they have seen over 70k at the DAM then I would think out of Chinook landing anchoring around Camas area would be a good spot?
I went of the bank today out of Social Security Beach and seen two keepers. About 50 poles and 6 hits.
If you are free on the 4th in the morning I would be more than happy to help either one of you two out. Besides this day I have to work since I am the boss this week. Let me know.
email me at vinneyx4@aol.com if you want or just use the email link on the board. Good luck

Hey, O'City Fisherman, where is Social Security Beach? Is that on Sauvie Island? I've heard about good places to bank fish on Sauvie Island but have never been there and don't know the names of places. The wife and I were thinking about going out there on Friday and scouting around (probably just following the herd) for a place to wet a hook.
I'm an Oregon City resident also - off Meyers Rd west of CCC.

Spook,
Yes Social Sevurity is Sauvie Island. Very easy to find and fish. If you need help getting there let me know.
I live off of Gafney Lane on Cokeron Dr. Nice new subdivision. We will have to get together and go out sometime. Email me when you are able to go. Talk with you later

Two places that have been producing fish are below the Lewis at the 72 marker and at the East end of Gov isalnd on the North side. Both are good in 11-20 feet of water. Put out a combo with red flat fish, flash and go, k-8 re kwik fish and red and white spin glows. Goop any of them up with guides choice shrimp oil and hang on. Do not forget to wash your hands with a bio degradeable soap to take human scent off.
to fish the 72 put in at Lake River on Wash side or St Helems on the Ore side. Will be there on Tuesday. Happy fishing!!!
