View Full Version : What Would You Do If.....
You ran your sled up the Clackamas and were somewhere in between Riverside and Carver,
and when you got done backtrolling your favorite hole, your big motor won't start for one reason or another. You just have your kicker for power now. How would you get back down to Riverside where your trailer is?
Me and a friend were talking about a situation like this and wondering,
What would you do................
Thanks

The easy solution is to get out and walk (somebody might take pity on you and give you a ride) down the road and get your trailer. Take out at Carver or Riverside.

Size of boat? Size of kicker? SIZE OF CAJONES? graemlins/1zhelp.gif

I've had to tether my sled downstream after losing main power. Need a really long rope though and the right bottom depth to stand in and hope you don't lose your footing like I did! The Santiam is still plenty cold in June. Can you say "what cajones?"

Would that be like "being up a creek without a paddle?"

Lil' Bill,
Take some real good pictures, upload them onto ifish, and open a post under "Boat and Tackle for Sale....you pick up!"

Well......the answer would have to depend on the water level.
If it's about about 12.5...you could probably make it down with your kicker...as long as you know the river well. Below that...well...I'd be hoping you'd be a good mechanic, and trouble diagnoser, and have tools with you.

lil Bill,
Are you looking for a phone number to load in your cell phone just in case that little ford 460 breaks down  Go with the V10!!

never leave home without a can of starting fluid, some tools, pull rope ( its not easy pulling a 115 merc) and a jump start box.
if those things will not work for you,, do what I have done in the past:::::
stand up, shake your fist at the motor and cuss like a logger, it wont start you motor, but it sure made me feel much better for a minute or two...
Then hope a fellow sled dude stops to give you a hand,,,, I know most of us would......

Backtroll your way down! I know of two fellow sleders that have had to do this on the big D! I saw a sled put it on the bank while driving to fast at Carver on the 8th, anyone know who it was? They landed high and dry, could not get the motor running after they got it back in the water.

Just what FishinMission said, if it's in the mid 12's go down on your kicker.
