Looks as if I'll be heading to grab some sturgies on Friday. We will be having a morning flood tide so the stretch outside of Hammond and the flagpole should have a great bite. I will be at TackleTime around 6:00 or so and I look forward to seeing any member in the area. I will be scanning the usual staions on the VHF so If I don't see ya at the ramp, speak up! Let's keep in good communication and get everyone on some fish  So who all will be in the area?

My niece is here from Colorado and am hoping to get her into some good keeper sturgeon on Fri out of Hammond. Already have 5 doz anchovies on order. I usually just string them but read about the magic string. Do you string them like norman then wrap the string after the half hitches?/ Also what are the ifish channels on my vhf?? Happy fishing

T,

I'll be down on Saturday with the Family. Hope to put a few fish in the boat and get my 12 year old step daughter into a few keepers as well. This will be her first estuary experience.

I just hope I do better than I did at Kelly pt.

I'll be down fishing Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. My boat is moored at Warrenton so I'll be there.

What are the usual VHF channels that I should monitor?

Tell ya what, let's do a roll call around 7:15 or so on 16. If I don't see anyone at the ramp, I will hail any IFish member on 16, then ask to go to 68. I will be scanning the usual stations so anyone calling on 68 will be heard. I'll look forward to seeing you Fishchaser and STZ11, be sure to bring your camera

I usually run a short leader when I fish anchovies. I run a 4/0 hook through the gill and out the middle of the head. I then put 3 hitches on her and wing it out. The stretchy string sounds like a good idea but if you are on a pod of sturgies, the bullheads won't be that much of a problem. I hope the anchovies will be mixed with the small herring, the sculpins will usually leave them alone.

WaterDog,
Let me know where you plan on fishing on Saturday. We will be there as well and I will be more than happy to show you some honey holes outside of Hammond. With the flood tide in the morning and a small west wind, the water should be nice. Don't get there too early cause bobbing around during low slack is no fun. wait till about 7:30 or so until you get enough current to stay straight. I hope to see you on the water bro!!

We have a radio in Pete's boat and we both have FRS radio's too. We could set a channel up for the ones who don't have radio's in their boat.

Let's go with a channel of 8 and 8. Easy to remember. Put the security code on 8 and the channel on 8 and we will hear everyone.

We use these when we take two rigs anywhere. They have a range of up to 2-5 miles. That's better than CB"s.

Hope to see you all out there. If not see you than @ least hear from you.

T,
I'll be launching at Hammond around 7:30 or 8:00 after I stop off at Tackle time for fish food. Have to give this area a shot instead of my usual haunts above tongue pt. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Sounds as though the ifish gang will be out in force this weekend.
