I'm p---ed,I stopped at Mahaffeys (spelling)
today with my wife to check out there boat launch to see if it was better then the old one
I was going to fish there this weekend.I parked in front of the boat launch and we got out of the car to check it out.I was right in front of it.Next thing I know some guy is yelling at me( YOUR PARKED IN FRONT OF MY BOAT LAUNCH) !!!.I was yes. There wasn't anyone waiting to launch it was 12:30 in the afternoon
NO ONE was there but us and him and his wife and one other guy.I told him, I just wanted to check out the launch and see if I would have any proplems at 4:00 in the morning.HE says again get out from in front of my launch(loudly)
I said hey I'm only going to be here just a couple of min.,I'm not blocking anybody just want to check the launch thats all.He said fine you go ahead while I call the sherrif and have your car towed,I told him fine I'd launch somewhere else and he could shove his f-----
launch, I'll never be back there or in his store for anything.I don't know what his proplem is but you wou would think someone who charges you to launch your boat and park your rig and who expects you to buy bait or whatever at his store would have been a little more cordial to a future customer.Anyway the guy was a total jerk and I'll never go back there,I've told a couple of other guys that launch there and buy there stuff at the store that say to h-- with him if thats the way he's going to be, we won't launch there anymore either.I was not blocking anything or anybody,I was parked right in front of the launch tho,I think he could have definatly handled it better then he did.It just cost him a couple customers for sure.Maybe he's independently weathly and does't need the money.I don't know and just don't care,Anyway thanks for letting me vent.

bob, you should share that. customer service is at a premium out in fishing country. matter of fact it pi$$e$ me off that folks don't slow down to pass each other on a friggen one lane road. my new truck or some trash of a truck, who do you think's gonna baw and not take an insurance claim.

give me the name of the store and i'll share it with my fishing buddies, life goes on and maybe he can be a little more curtiouse next time he see's a potential customer. graemlins/berry.gif

Dawhunt,
What an awful experience. Sounds like you didnt do anything wrong and that guy was on the rag. I wouldnt go back either after that abuse. The kalama sure is a beautiful river though with lots of bank access, so maybe you wont even need to use your boat if you go back.
Another thing that I find annoying is that the Ifish language "rules" dont allow you to express yourself as you would like. I noticed you tried to use the word pi$$ed and Ifish wont let you. Well I find that very childish that the rules here limit our free speech and ability to express our feelings completely. Jen I know you have children and you dont want them saying bad words at home or within ear shot of you, but Ifish is the real world and we are mostly adults here so I wish you would let us express ourselves however we may need to at any given time.

FF,
i was the guy who used the P(word) but i don't mind using the dollar sign. i've been caught using language as you said wrong in front of children. leave it at that and i'm noting the store & boat launch. My fishing contact list is at 45 guys and gals, that's 45 less people who tell their friends and their friends next thing you know robert redford's hot daughter in law in tight waders comes out fishing and skips his store. hahhahahha

could happen

Friendly fisherman.

It's not just children on this board. There are quite a few adults that don't like cussing. I'm not one, but if there were not rules against cussing on the board than every other word would be the "F" word. I don't appriciate rude language, and I'm sure their are quite a few other people out there who don't.

I spent 20years in the military and there is nothing out there that will embarress me, but that doesn't mean I want to get on the board and listen to people vent, in a language that I wouldn't want to be talked to in.

If you want to cuss online goto a ***** discussion board. You can vent without using rude language. I do it all the time.

I stoped dealing with those guys at mahaffeys long ago. graemlins/berry.gif Wade up at pritchards is really friendly and helpful. My buddies and i stop in there when ever we need bait or a shuttle. You will probably find a lot better attitudes up there.

This is Jennie's home. She owns it. As long as you are in Jennie's home you play by her rules, like `em or not. When people are in my home they play by my rules, as I'm sure you have rules in your home for your guests.

If you want to create your own fishing community where anything goes, then I'd be happy to give you some free Bulletin Board (http://www.phpbb.com) software suggestions (http://www.yabbforum.com/). If you provide a service that people want, then they will come and you can experience the headaches that come with moderating such a forum.

Jennie's house. Jennie's rules. And the First Amendment doesn't come into play here.

Back on topic...Mahaffey's on the Kalama? Thanks. I'll be sure to avoid them when I'm in the area.

Can you post the phone number there?? we can all take turns calling him and asking about the condition of his sandshrimp...or who the vendor is where he gets his eggs,, Just think,, 30 calls a day asking those questions would drive him nuts,,,,,

just a malicious thought...........

You criticized Jennie's forum rules by saying "Another thing that I find annoying is that the Ifish language "rules" dont allow you to express yourself as you would like...Well I find that very childish that the rules here limit our free speech and ability to express our feelings completely", and I explained to you that this is her forum and her rules. That's all.

As far as the rest of your comment, I will not dignify that type of comment with anything more than this statement.

So the "Friendly Fisherman" is perhaps not so friendly.........

Friendly fishermen - Get Bent got it just right. This is Jennie's house and if you do not like the rules here, feel free to just keep moving.

Your comment as to Get Bent's nose is not appreciated either. I believe you owe both Get Bent and Jennie an apology.

You might want to re-read the rules that you agreed to when you registered at ifish. If you cannot abide by those rules your membership fee will be cheerfully refunded on your way out the door.

Here is a little test of the word filter: ******. Not as tight as you thought, huh.

I'm sorry your experience at Mahaffey's was so horrible. I don't blame you at all for not wanting to go back and spreading the word to as many people.

I had an experience exactly opposite from that with the owner of that store. I happened to be bank fishing the Kalama and stopped in for a soda. I started chatting with the guy (can't remember his name). Anyway he starts talking about all these holes he knows of and next thing you know he shuts his store and we go for a ride and he shows me many of the spots he was referring to. I have been back to those holes several times with decent luck and no crowds. I thought that was pretty cool.

I in no means condone what took place with you but just thought my experience was just as important to share. By the way I don't stop at his store anymore because he has nothing in it!!!!! Not to mention he talks my ear off every time I see him, sometimes I just want the solitude! I think he is on hard times with the store?!

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the store is owned by a total separate person. Unless there is 2 stores it is owned by Willirower's wife. 2 different people. Check on that befor you start a massive boycott.

Anyway so the guy had a bad day or is touchy about his ramp. He doesn't know what your intentions are. Maybe he has a problem with dunderheads parking there and must treat all people the same. I say it is his ramp and property. Abide by his rules.

What a jerk. Here's how I would have dealt with it. Come back later and launch. When you pull out, load the trailer high, gun your boat to push up, several times, and dig a great big trailer eating hole out of the ramp. Be sure to say "thank you" on your way out and to do a new post entitled "Bad ramp, stay away" for all of us here.
