Bill I like the clack to be at least 12.0 feet on the gauge at rivermill heres the linkhttp://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Portland/public_hydro/willtrib.html

It would depend a lot on how experienced you are running your boat, and how good at reading the water. For folks with less experience 12.5' would be about minimum. For folks with more experience, and a shallow running boat, you could probably run it down to 11.8', below that, you run the risk of hitting. The river has changed greatly after the '96 Flood. Lots more shallow gravel bars now than ever before, be careful, and don't take chances!!

I second Drachir on this one. Actually, I never fish below 12.0 because not only is it real "puckery" but also the water is so low and clear sled fishing usually isn't that productive.
Since 96, gravel has moved around every year and the lines change. Be very careful when it gets in the low 12s!
Oh, and Bill, the water above Carver is even more subject to shallow issues if you aren't familiar with it. There is some good fishing up there, but don't try it with low water unless you are following somebody who knows which side of the runs to be on.
PS They added 10' to the guage measurements several years ago, so if you hear someone say 2' they new measurement is 12...

I"ve been running my sled from the mouth of the Clack up to Carver and was wondering what level of water is it "unsafe". When the gauge at Three Lynx showed "2.5" , the water seemed to get pretty thin right above the Coffee Hole and right by the island below Carver. Anyone have a good number to go by as far as what the gauge is showing?
Also, what's the water like above Carver?

don't know about proper river levels, but here's a gauge that should help more. It's below Rivermill.
