Ok,
I'm gonna be working in St Helens this week.Gonna take advantage of it by plunking for steelies.Never done this before so here goes.
1-How much lead is necessary on a spin glow?
2-I have a drifter with 8hp so running far is not much of an option so Where(don't need a secret spot as much as an idea of what to look for).
3-Would I be better off anchoring/trolling plugs-spinners?
I know about k-12s and u-20s so just a idea of structure/current thing.Or flats?Or ledges?
4-Jellyhead: if you read this, would the spot where we first met work?Deeper water or shallow side? The seam on the deep side?Never fished enough big water to know about suspended traveling steelies.
Thanks.
See you on the rivers.
Mark.

I live here is St.Helens and from what I've been told the best sopt to go from a boat is at the point of sand island using a flat fish or if u use the spin-glow about 18-24' leader. I cought a 29" steeley last mounth down river at Prescott beach from the bank
good luck and let me know thanks

Flatfish,

Yes the spot we met is good for summers. At the piling jetty and up and downstream. There is a definite current break. Get right on the current break on the drop off. It goes from 14' all the way to 40' deep in about 3 boat widths. The fish move up the current break, and follow the shelf on upstream.

Orange u-20's do some serious damage. Gold u-20's were a close second. Have fun.
