Bill,
I have handled one, but never fished with one. They are a very smooth reel.
I have had excellent luck with pretty much all the Shimano reels I've used over the years.
That being said, I think the Stella is overpriced.
I use a Stradic which I love and it's about 1/4 the price of a Stella.
I guess it comes down to if you really want to spend that much money.
Mike
I own two Sustains, very smooth. I wouldn't waste the money on a Stella.

I totally agree with your comments, including "Cha Ching!"
I'm looking for a strong spinning reel with enough line capacity to fish the surf. I have a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 which is really too heavy for the rod I'm using.
I figured there would be some steelheaders using the smaller stella models who could give me some idea regarding this big ticket item.
The Sustain may well be considered unless someone gives me a glowing report on the Stella! Then Cha-ching!!!
Thanks,
Bill
