Nine fish to the boat with one released. Only one on my rod, but my wife and son came through to put fish in the box. We even got the one the sealion grabbed after fighting with him for a while.

13 salmon in the boat, 2 released, 4 others lost.
Lost 2 pair of sunglasses, 1 spinner rig, and part of my mind, The boat held up well and I have had a great year. One of the boys (5) caught his first one this year ( I helped a little).
I spent A-Lot of time out there this year to get these results. Most of them were caught at the Sellwood bridge on the Willamette.
I think I finally figured out how to rig those danged prawns.

I lost count...somewhere around 25 to the boat...can't recall how many were keepers. I didn't keep records that well this year.
I do remember last year on the Columbia tho...there were 44 (20 keepers) in 13 trips.
Almost all the fish this year were on the Willamette. Maybe 6-7 on the Columbia.

I give it a 8.0 as we did not get as many as we hoped but were more successful per trip. Ended up with 3 keepers, 2 nates for about 5 serious trips. Not great numbers but our fish per trip was higher than last year but total number of fish was down. (all on Columbia)

I'd rate a 9.8.
We usually fished 2 people,we usually went out at 7am--in at 9am--usually4 days a week.
Hooked 31 landed 19---but we didn't start fishing until 3/15---ouit 5/15.
We only got rained on a couple of times, the boat worked great, had a small glitch w/trolling moter ---fixed in 1 afternoon.
All in all,a great season.

We went 8 for 15 in my boat between Pops and I. Got one in Fishin Eddies boat that went home with me and got a nate with David Johnson and I handed my second fish off with David to my Dad.(keeper too).
Oppsss...Forgot, my boy Shaggy got a native on the big C too.
In all, pretty decent year. Especially since I got some fish on the Willamette for the first time ever this year. Yeee hawwww!!!!
Special thanks to David Johnson for the tips on springer in the big "C" and a little Willamette advice too.

We landed 16 springers in my boat this year. I would rate it an 8. Had a great time. Largest fish was 23.5# and I even got to hook and play it myself. Fished some new areas. Fished in other boats too, learned a few things. The early season was tough at first so went after steelie natives mainly. Hooked a few Springers in 4.5' of water with 1' vis. Learned that plunking is a go to method. When springers really showed I was out of town. :depressed:
Got enough keepers to feed the family reunion in July though!

I got 11 to the boat and lost 3 others. My 9 year old daughter had (but eventually lost) her first springer. She's ready to battle again next year. This was my first year of owning a boat and I'm satisfied with the results. I learned a few lessons that I'll apply to next year's springer fishing (provided we have a season):
1.) Owner hooks rule
2.) Let the fish hook themselves (anchor fishing with Kwikfish)
3.) Stick to 3 color combos that I know work and forget about the rest (silver with red dots, silver with chart. head and dots, and fickle pickle.
4.) Bring fresh sand shrimp to the Wind River and Drano Lake
5.) New fuel water seperators and additives that remove water from fuel tanks are good things.
6.) Keep reading (IFish, STS, etc.), and keep an open ear to new ideas.

it was my first year after springers, and I got to give it a high 8 low 9, (no french judges here!). I set the boat up with information learned here on Ifish. graemlins/program.gif
We put 6 in the boat and 1 nate. Got good tips on where to fish, made some of it up on our own, all in all a great learning year with blood in the boat.
BEST YET I met of bunch of you  . OK that makes it at least a 9.x

A good year, not as good as last year, more fish in March this year, fishing in the snow. Bigest fish was just over 30 lbs. Didn't keep great records, but more fish than I wanted to process, and it's not over. Got fish (clipped)every trip except 2 or 3, so thats not bad. I am just coming to some of my best time (if you take a 10 year average) for springers as I am a die hard bobber fisherman, but this year don't know how motivated I will be. With the water, I expect to catch nice springers well into July. Rate this year a 7.5 at this point, on a scale of 1 - 10

Only got blanked twice!
7 days of double digits.
The best fish was a nate that I got to release, caught by a man who has fish more than most,
but he was as happy as if it were his first fish. Granted it was pushing 30lbs. I had three people with their first salmon in the boat. Found two new spots, fished in the rain, got snow on coming home, and have a fishermans tan. It was ands is a great year to be on the water!

Me and my boys tagged 17 and caught around 40 before the Columbia closed. Lots of nates released. Since the river closed for chinook, I've landed around 25 springers with three at or over 30 lb's (released) while fishing for steelhead. Tagged 7 summer runs and released 1 nate.
Had alot of fun and really enjoyed meeting the Ifish group at F4. I've had a great time fishing this year and realized that we are truly living the "good ol' days" this year. When you land that next springer take a moment to reflect on the season and be thankful we got to take part this year. It could be awhile before we have runs like this again.

Whatever I have I hope it doesn't spred.
19 trips and -0- fish. No hits, no bumps. The last 4 weeks I have stayed with spin-n-glo's and shrimp. We'll have a good crop of fish in a few years cause smolt love shrimp. I still very much enjoy the hunt, so excited to just be there.

As of the week befor last we had 38 fish on and put 16(i think) in the boat. We released approx 8 others including a nice 25 pounder and a super nice steelhead that was not removed from the water and was guessed at 10 to 11 pounds. I would give it a rating of 8. There was a little more action this year.

I tagged 10 keepers and let another 8 nates go. The best part is that I fished ways that I never had before, usually I am a herring and spinner guy but not this year. Used prawns, eggs, and sandshrimp and all worked plus I used divers as well. I also tried bobber fishing but didn't get the hang of it in time to hook fish. Although the fish did cooperate. Didn't catch my first fish until the last week in April. Our best day we put 5 keepers in the boat, our worst day we lost 3 and only boated one.

I would say it was a good year. Fished all but one trip on the Wind river. I was sweating it as the fish were late but finally showed in numbers the last week of May. I ended up keeping 21 and releasing 5 before I quit. I believe 20 were landed with a float and eggs. A very effective technique I will be using more for salmon. The rest were caught drift fishing. They sure are great canned.

I give it a 10.
So far I've got 433 salmon and steelhead in the boat this year and the numbers are still going strong with an average of five to six fish a day for the last three weeks.

9.999,
Cause when all you folks was chasing springers,we caught a bunch of Steelies on deserted coast rivers.Best return I have seen since I was a little kid fishin the Kilchis.Gotta love them springers. Now we just have to wait til July or so and everyone will dissappear again...Then the real Summer run season will begin.Letsee, fish or 2 per day average.Get out of bed around 7-8am.Nobody to moan about you drifting over their water cause there is NOBODY there!     graemlins/lurk.gif Man do I love steelhead.
See you on the Rivers(NOT! )

I'd give it a 9. Spent 90% of my time covering code 185 from end to end (minus OC). Final tally, 11 keepers to the boat- 1 nate, 5 lost and 5 kept for me. As with most seasons, this year's run taught me a few things, humbled me some days and just plain wore me out.....

First year in the new boat so every trip ironed out a bug or two. In five full days Caught 8 with only one keeper. Half pulling plugs half anchored with quick fish. Its amaizing how quickly the weather and crowds can come and go. Id give the season about an 8 with many days at 10 and one at a 3. The 3 was the result of too many folks and some fool who couldnt run his motor while his son took up the anchor. The result was a crushed finger and some missing paint.

For my 100th post, I want to say that the F4 Springer King title was luck and that's all it was. That fishy was nice, but 1 of 2 for seven trips. It was a nice de-stinker, but I'm wondering if I have a loose current in the hull or I just suck as bad as I think :depressed: . I wish I could do the Cow Flotilla but I'm on watermelon watch  - new partner due within one month...

I'd rate this season a 9.5. It's been on par with the last two years as far as returning native steelhead. They just keep coming and coming. Like Flatfish, I spent the majority of my time chasing steelies. Fished almost every week this year and have hooked at least one each trip out. It's great when you can hook late winter steelhead, early summers and springers on the same day. Had that happen twice in the past month. Looking forward to the summer and fall season as it's supposed to be a good one.

Kaus, I am with you :depressed: . Fifty five hours - 2 hook-ups, both lost. One day in the boat, most hours plunking, some bobber fishing, and just for Dave, I did try drift fishing ..... I am not done, I may give it one more outing.
Still, I would give it a 7.2

I give it a 9.0. Good beat, easy to dance to......
Landed 18 in my boat for about ten trips with three natives released, average weight 17-18lbs. Biggest 22lbs. Most effective bait was prawn/spinner rigs anchored.
Everyone who fished with me limited at least once except Mark and he has been doing real well at River Mill. Got my nephew into his first salmon. He and his Dad both limited on the same sunny day. Ok, maybe it was a 10.

9.9
35 on the tag(s) and another 6 or 7 jacks or adult bucks let go. Hooked probably another 20. All but 2 off the bank fishing eggs after May 1. The best part was that I never had to fish the Columbia or up in the Canyon on the Wind(I did go twice to remind myself how much I dislike it) to get em.

I would have to give it a 10!!
This was my first "serious" springer season and for 6 trips we have caught 12 fish 10 springers all clipped and 2 summers both hatchery fish but one was only half clipped so it went back. The biggest was 22lb springer smallest was a 7lb summer. Two of the springers came from the columbia and the rest of the fish came from the coast. Im not finished yet either!
Its been a prety good year so far!! Cant wait for the fall season to begin!
I forgot to mention this was all from the BANK!

I would rate it a 9.
I didnt fish the big river or the Willamette, I was chasing wild steelies while you guys were doing that.
Ive been fishing the Santiam system and my boat has only been skunked once about 20 trips out. Its been a mixed bag of steelies and springers. Ive lost count of the total # of fish brought to the boat. The fishing has been tough at times and unbelievable at other times
My bank excursions havent been all that productive. Ive landed one fish in 4 trips banking it. It was a wild steelhead.

I think I would give it an 8. I had quite a few fish on, but, wasn't able to get all of them to the boat. But the ones that we did get to the boat were unbeleivable. One day we had a good 15 fish on, but were only able to get 2 into the boat. I have to admit that it was real slow at the beginning of the run but it made up for it later on.
I think the final count was twenty trips, 35 fish on, 10 fish into the boat, (fished w/crackers) one LOST IFISH HAT, don't know how much lost gear, lots of new friends, and fish in the freezer. I just wish I didn't have crackers for fishing partners, during the week.
I'd say it was a good year for Springers. Hope the summer is good for Steelhead, and the fall is good for Big Chinook.
See you on the river everyone.
This was my best year ever!! My X company gave me 6 months severance pay in January, my first full year with my sled and a 10 on the Steelhead-Springer rating. We landed 27 Steelhead (all released) and 34 Springers of which 11 were wild and released. So far on Sturgeon, 1 trip with Fish Hunter and a 54 keeper. The bad news is I am back to work and fishing on the weekends. :depressed:

I have to give this season a 10 as it was my first year with my own boat, third year salmon fishing and my best so far. Landed 6 clipped, 1 un-clipped and personally lost 4. Total of 12 landed for the boat with several more lost, mostly long line releases. It ain't over yet as I am still trying to catch a keeper for the month of June.!

i give the season a 5 or less......maybe its me...but who knows.......5 on 2 keepers 1 lost due to son mishandling fish.....1 nate... 1 longline release......1 steelhead
when i did get out i didnt ever see many fish being caught.......i only saw maybe 50 fish caught out of 10 fishing days.....
F4 produced less then 20 fish ......so what am i missing?
but dave...your da man.....433.....if i was ever going to hire a guide.....it would be u..

I would rate it a 9.5 and it is still going on with 8 fish in the boat yesterday on the wind. landed 44 in Col and will with 36 keepers. Wind River is much better even tho fish are late. Wash Fisheries expects another 40000 to the hatchery in the next 4 weeks. Only lost 3 fish out of 62 in 13 trips this year at wind. Remember they don't call it the wind for nothing!!! Will be good for another 2 weeks on shrimp and bobbers

I give it a 9. 200+ steelies and 50+spring salmon.About my average for the past couple years. Not bad for my first year. Ya gotta love em!!!
