After reading a post about zinc anodes for aluminum boats at Illwaco a question arises for all you seasoned salts who frequent the Astoria/Tongue Point fishing waters. Do you flush your outboards/jet pumps after daily or weekend usage? When I return home (Lake Tapps, Wa) from a weekend of sturgeon fishing, I back the boat into the lake and flush both units as a precaution. My concern is on my new outboards (Yamaha 200 HPDI and 8 HP High Thrust 4 stroke on a Lund Pro-V) Just how much salinity is the waters at the Estuary? I assume the logical thing to do is to flush them! Any input would be appreciated....Thanx

I learned that harbors have higher anode wear if there are electrical leaks into the water. Some boats in a salt water moorage who are hooked to shore power can leak current into the water creating a stronger charge than normal. It eats anodes quickly.
Warrenton marina is on the Skippanon River and has a much lower percentage of salinity (I heard 2%) than the other Astoria moorages, especially at the outgoing tide when the fresh water is coming downstream.
