Wen't back down to my old stomping grounds on the Umpqua to visit family and get some fishin' in.

My original plan had been to catch some shad for bait but the shad bite was not too great where i was fishin. so I ended up mainly fishin for smallies. Caught and released about 200 fish over 2 days many of which were over 2 pounds..some of which were close to 4!!

Overall it was a good weekend and my arm got a good workout

Oh, and I even caught a salmon this weekend....unfortunately it was just a smolt (about 3 inches long) it actually bit on my Shad Jig (The Jig was almost bigger than the fish!  )

I was fishin' in the south river at the Forks (where the north and south become the main)
Across the river from Singleton park. that is the opposite side of the river from the platform that is in singleton park (on the south river at the forks)

Just throw a 3" white jig in the current with an 1/8 leadhead (preferably painted green). throw into the eddies and reel into and across the current.

Fish almost every cast using this method.

Too bad you weren't down there this weekend (thur fri or sat) I could have taken you out and shown you exactly where to fish.

Anyway, Good luck.
