Catching was tougher on the slack tides last weekend for us.

I’ve never worried much about tides in the estuary. I have caught fish through out the day. Remember to move around a lot if your not getting bit. Good luck.

To sum up what waterdog said, the best tides are when they bite.

Last weekend we got most of ares right at slack and the start of the incoming tide.

Typically, the bite tapers off at slack tide and picks up again as the water starts to move in either direction. If you are anchored in deeper water this effect is not so pronounced since you will still have water moving, even at slack. I think it is because the fish use their nose to find the bait and when the current stops moving so does the scent trail.

If you are not getting bit, move. Good luck.

Some areas fish great on the incoming then die at slack, some fish great on the outgoing then die at slack, some fish great all day long. Typically I do well below the bridge on the outgoing then off tongue point on the incoming. It helps to keep notes... Joe

I agree that as long as the water is moving, the bite could be on. However, the places you might want to fish are tide dependant. The flats below the bridge are an excellent spot especially if you can find the small channels, but you'll want to be there on the incoming only. The deep hole just above the WA side of the bridge is also a good spot, but you may find the current at the bottom of the outgoing prohibitive.
