I know the eagle creek cohos begin to return into the creek in late August, my question is how long does that run last? and in which month do they seem to be the most abundant ?

Also, do any cohos continue up the clack above the mouth of eagle creek, or are they all supposed to turn up eagle creek?

Thanx,
friendly fisherman

There was a picture circulating around last year of a 30+ buck that was collected at North Fork and sent on up to spawn.

Coho do continue up the Clackamas to spawn. Those are the wild fish. I caught one once while steelhead fishing below Rivermill Dam on a spinner.

The fish can begin showing in late August and early September in Eagle Creek. Just not in huge numbers. Some years they amass in the lower Clack Sept 1 and in real good numbers.

Last year the run in the Creek really did not begin until the last week of September. It was really good the second week of October in the Clack and Eagle creek. The run is a fast moving one. So be ready.

After the first big rain they will be there. Be it September or October. What a blast.

A word of warning. Watch out for hornet nest around Eagle Creek. They are a nasty bunch. I know a fisherman that had an experience with them one time. Someone that says it takes no skill to fish there. graemlins/eek13.gif :hoboy:

Have fun!!!

I would like to see C&E catch a fish any fish. I'm not talking about a diver and egg set up , that was funny. Rod should keep his eye on you for future tricks to play on people.

Heh, actually he was caught bare-handed. He was pulled out of the fish traps at the base of the dam and put back into the river at the top so he could continue on his way upstream.

Fishalot, I did not see any of your graemlins/stupid.gif graemlins/idea.gif working last night. Diver with egg and sandshimp have worked in the past for me on other rivers. Why not the Willamette? You're just sore because you did not think of it.

Last week Pops hit two fish on a diver and spinner combo that I built. I saw you do nothing but snag up. Oh yeah, I saw you wiff a fish that had already swallowed, chewed, savored and then spit out a empty hook. Yewwwwwww cracker you!

You should take up "wiffle ball". That way you could at least get a chance to swing the rod once in a while.

It was good to see you guys out there trying last night. Glad to see TR hit a couple and show you boys how it's done.

Fishalot. Enjoy the "Baton". It's almost as good as crow from what I hear. :hoboy:

Well it was my first time at the falls so please give a guy a brake.
C&E I was not knocking your fishing method graemlins/berry.gif , I was just making reference to how the diver made you rod bend when you were joking about having a fish on  . I was slow to set the hook and I just may have hooked into one if I had set it more often. I will try harder next time out. Some day I might do it as good a you, you are my fishing hero.

Friendly Fishermen I am sorry for canging the topic you started.
