theres no dumb answer. its whatever you catch fish with. He just wants to know about good rods in his price range.

Me i got cracker gear, so i have no suggestions for salmon stuff for ya. but i know i got my eye on what i want. HSR1021C with a reel i havn't decided on.

I agree with the Wiz on this one although I would opt for the 6500 v. 5500.

The Buz Ramsey rod is great for the money. I landed several springers on mine and have no complaints.

My next rod is presently being built by TH. I can't wait to get my little grubby mitts on it.

Lots of good rods out there and you can never own too many. You don't see Tiger Woods walking the course with nothing but a driver do you?

I would have to go with the TH 1021c 8'6" 10-20# a Great salmon drift rod!

TH has a Loomis 1021C for sale on the classifieds. I think its a GL3. Great rod.

If you want to spend an extra 100.00 buy it in an IMX. Any of the Abus are good. The 6500 C4s are sweet.

Ask my wife, give her a snoopy pole and she catches fish. Give her a loomis and she catches fish. I have come to the conclusion that unless you have lots of money to throw at this, go with the best you can afford.

I too would recommend the 6500 series and check out some of the "middle" of the road rods at Fishermans (100-150). Any custom or used top of the line rod in the price range is a steal.
