Now that I have taken Mark's Jig class and have puchased an assortment of his Jigs I am really wanting to try them out. I am commited to the coast this next weekend due to family. Is the Wilson an option? Are there any summer runs available, or am I stuck between runs. I would be fishing from the bank. How about the Trask?

I wouldn't say you're stuck, but you are pretty much between runs right now as far as numbers are concerned. These north-coastal rivers right now are extremely low and clear, but there are some fish available.

Bobbers and jigs would probably be a good technique if you can find some. But, look for the next freshet to bring some fish upriver. So far we haven't seen much in the way of rainfall here at the coast out of this front, I think they're getting more rain in Portland than we are in Tillamook!

But have faith, it's going to improve all through June and into July.

Just a reminder, springers are open until July 31 rst. on the Wison, Trask and Nestucca Rivers this year! Only adipose-clipped fish may be retained.
And you can catch them on a bobber and jig this time of year as well.

Get after 'em!

Is it common to run plugs for springers in the same way you do for Steelhead, or do they behave differently when pushed down the hole?

And if so, do you grab the kwickies or warts and hot shots the ticket?

thanks,
dennis
