With all the talk and gloom about the pending loss of Oregon's coastal hatcheries I thought it might be nice to hear about a program that is a raging success. Go to www.fishfirst.org (http://www.fishfirst.org) and read about this fine organization.
These folks have, on an entirely volunteer basis, changed the future of the Lewis River system in Southwest Washington. By use of net pens and egg boxes, nutrient enhancement programs, culvert removal and many habitat improvement efforts they have vastly improved the future of fish and fishing on the Lewis River.
These folks deserve your support. They are making a difference. I suspect that the same things could be said about Tillamook Anglers as well.
Don't just complain about the situation. Join these and similar groups and make a difference for your kids and grandchildren.
