Fished the Columbia yesterday evening with a budy and had a great time. For 2 hours of fishing, we ended up with a nice fat 52" in the boat and released a 8 footer! Plus the regular 15 shakers to keep you excited. Fresh smelt was the bait of choice. Looks like it is starting to get good!

wtbarrong, Sounds like a great trip. From your description of the fish, my guess is you were fishing just below Bonneville and above the Fishery? I'm heading in that direction tomorrow.

wishntobefishn,
Nope, we stayed closer to home and fished the Camas/Troutdale area. Good luck if you head up to the gorge!

Hey wishntobefishn,
I am hoping to head down there tomorrow as well. I have put in at Rooster Rock park and fished the wall there, the flats upriver, and a little bit in front of the falls upriver. However, several posts indicate that the fishing is really good above the "Fisheries" area. I know where the Fisheries ramp is, but I don't know what water to fish from there. Can you give me a bit of a clue? Do you fish the edge of the shipping channel or flats? Are there any specific areas that are producing?
Any info is appreciated, and good luck!
