How big is your cooler? I am about to pick up my new BoiceJet  , and need to mount a cooler on the back for a fish box.
Also, how have you mounted your coolers? I know NorthRiver sells a "L" bracket that bolts to your boat and to your cooler, with removeable pins for easy loading of cooler.

I have a 120 QT cooler with the North River bracket. Seems to work pretty well. I never felt comfortable securing it with bungee cords.
Ditto, on a 120 qt. cooler with NR brackets. I use my boat for wakeboarding as well. I had the dealer cut the L bracket into 2 pieces to spread them apart away from the midline of the stern. The middle of the stern is where my kids slide their butt onto the swim platform. This saves them from leaving some of their hide on the stern.

120 qt Igloo with Igloo's brackets (West Marine has them) mounted on the step. The tie down is a strap, not a bungee and it seems to hold it fast. Easy off for cleaning or packing your catch to the truck.

120 qt Igloo from Costco 2 weeks ago costing $59. Super insulated and advertised to hold ice over for 5 days during the summer season.

I agree with the big 120's or 140's or whatever size they are at Costco. They are BIG! We nicknamed mine "Fill".

Get the 158 qt cooler at Walmart $5.00 more than the ones at costco but these have a small door on top and tray just right for holding lunch and drinks. save thw $$ on a holder, two bungees one time around the handles and hooked on the angle portions hold it on even at freeway speeds.

80 qt. minimum, although you can usually find the best deals on 120-140 qt.. Keep an eye out at Costco, they usually have them for around $50 bucks. They don't have the best insulating qualities for long summer camping trips, but they work great for fish boxes.

Hey everybody, thanks for the great info. I looked at Costco, and they had a 152 quart Igloo Max Cold for $59.99. The cooler at Walmart sounds interesting. I will have to take a look.
Thanks for the feedback on how to mount, expecially the tip about splitting the NR bracket in two to keep from taking the skin off my kids. I was sort of nervous about looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a cooler on the end of a bungee cord flying like a kite!. I figured that by the time you have your cooler loaded with 100lb's of Chinook and Ling's, a pretty beefy mount would be in order.

My "L" bracket is on the cooler itself. Two small rounder brackets for the pins to push through.
i agree with fatfish, costco best price, long lasting on ice, believe they have the 154 qt at costco, 59.00 right now, can't beat that with a stick. dk
