So where would you fish on Wednesday for springers now that the Columbia is closed.

Wednesday is an outgoing tide most of the day for the channel. Would you ancor and use kwikfish or spinners. Or troll all day up the Willamette with hearing. Or any other suggestions.

Lookin for fish, if nothing else a day on the water and out of work Yeehaw.

Hi Paul, nice to see you're still in the game. I'd tell you where to go but I don't know jack about river salmon.

Good luck!

Yeh I'm still in the game Pilar. just a late starter. Pete, I'll be watching for your report.

Missed the Columbia fishing entirely due to work overload. :depressed: But thats a good thing since I needed the money reel bad. mabey they will reopen it just for me graemlins/eek13.gif

I don't know jack about Willamette springers either other than I've never boated one. My fishing pard landed a 22lb nookie off Sauvie island on Saturday after 400+ hours on the beach. Not a good ratio, but he didn't have anything better to do either.

Hey Pete,
I just wanted to thank you for the tip last weekend. You suggested I fish down by Coon Island. I fished from below the island to the gilbert launch. Although I didn't get any, there were a lot of fish being caught around me. Many boats had 2-3 fish. Guides were all over the area.
Appreciate the tip....I'll keep checking in with you....Bullhead

fish the channel near gilbert boat launch......use herring green label if possible....fish near the bottom and troll with the tide...most of the fish i saw were taken in the middle to left hand side trolling downstream....

Coon Island and the Gilbert boat Launch were ok on Sunday. But there has not been a bite since Sunday morning. I talked with the local good fisherman that get fish every day and they have not even seen more thatn 4 fish cought both mornings. I think OC is the place to be.

Looked like there was a modest bite this morning in the channel that tapered off after high slack. Lots of boats sitting on anchor (in the trolling lanes). Saw 6 hooked and 5 landed among the 20 boats near me. All fish were hooked by trollers using green label herring, bounced off the bottom in 18 - 24 feet of water. Funny moment of the day was watching some guy in his over-equipped Trophy anchor his boat and drop a down rigger to fish in 16 feet of water.

Nice to see you out there DFB! Did you do any good?

So what's up with all the goons anchoring in the mouth of the upper Multnomah channel? This is the first year I have seen people doing this. Sure, there always seems to be one guy who anchors up in the trolling lanes but now theres a dozen boats doing it!? I could never drop anchor in the mouth of the channel without feeling like a total a$$. What's next, a hogline? Ya that's right, lets just ruin it for everyone. graemlins/berry.gif

p.s. Mr. Trophy boat (anchored in the mouth) using a downrigger in 16 ft of water? So typical, like I really need to be zig zagging around these bozo's. :depressed: If you anchor up in the mouth folks, you absolutely ruin it for the 95% of the boats who troll in this area.

Spent a couple hours last night trolling between Freds and Sauvie island bridge. Caught one 11 lber. Only saw 2 boats in the area. Anybody have a report from Sellwood? Want to try and make it out thursday after work!
