Does anyone have any recommendations for reliable, secure, and low priced online purchasing for fishing gear? Specifically Reels and line? Looking for some good prices!!

Hatteras Outfitters; they have numerous models of Ambassadeur reels that I had not seen anywhere else. They also have alot of parts to "soup up" your reel.
Kind of like the hotrod shop for fishing reels. Great site and great merchandise.

I have spent thousands of dollars over the last 12 years at Cabela's. Great customer service too. Please don't respond with the "buy local" garbage. I spend plenty of money locally, but 70% of the time cabelas has in stock what most small shops don't even carry. I'm like a kid at christmas when I see a white package leaning against my house when I come home from work

I have to agree with salmonator about Cabela's. A while back I was looking for a rear drag Shimano spinning reel and all the local stores only had front drag models. I called Cabela's and they had exactly the model number that I wanted in stock and a few days later it was at my door step.
If it's everyday fishing gear, I buy at the local shops but if you're looking for harder to find items, Cabela's is a good source.

For immediate needs only. Hanks supecenter in Cornelious is closing June 8, and everything is 20-30% off right now. It's starting to get picked over so call first.

If you are looking for pretty good line I have been using silver thread line through cabelas for the last 10 years and I mainly use them for sturgeon at bonneville because the daimeter is pretty small for thirty pound and it has low memory. I normally buy 5 spools of 3000yards because it is so cheap. They stopped selling it for a couple of years, but they are selling it again. You can beat the price and it is just as tough as Berkley or any line. The reels I have been doing pretty good through ebay or if you were buying a salmon reel I would just check out sales ad or Walmart.

Sometimes I find good deals at the BassPro shop. It can be worth a look see.

Speaking of fishing line, where is the cheapest place to buy a bulk spool (1500 yrds.) of 80lb power pro.
