I have to go to Seattle next weekend to visit a couple of friends. But, I don't want to miss a weekend of fishing. Is there any steelhead/ springer fishing going on there? Any help would be much appreciated.

Fishguy,
I have been doing the every other week in Seattle thing for quite some time. I bring my boat about every other every other. Frankly, fishing up there is not as good as here. Our fish are bigger and far more numerous. But I have taken some big sweet crab and some very nice pinks out of Seatle waters.
I am heading up there mid this week. I don't know what I'm going to go after or what I will get, but I will pass on my experiences. The deep water shrimp Pilar first posted is a distinct possiblity, and I am working on it now.
The chinook there are not usually chinook as we would know them. They have "blackmouths"... smaller chinook that grow up in the sound as apposed to the open ocean. The late summer coho are also much smaller and hard to come by.
I plan to explore the San Juans this summer, both on the boat and beneath (scuba), where the fishing does promise to be more favorable.

Hey Fishguy, unfortunately Puget sound Salmon fishing is closed until July 1st. And those big sweet crabs he was talking about.....closed until further notice. You can do some fishing over on lake washington in Seattle. If you want to try that check out www.washingtonlakes.com (http://www.washingtonlakes.com) for info. Go into King County lakes and it will tell you all you need to know about the lake.
Good luck!
