Havent been on this board in forever, seems like it anyways. My roomate and I both go to OSU, and ive infected him with the fishing bug....only one catch to it...Im not very good at it, being a begginner myself. So here is the question, is there anyone out there that would like to take us fishing and show us the ropes? He is from the Portland area, and we will be willing to travel almost anywhere to fish for salmon or steelhead. We have our own gear, and will be more than happy to pitch in mnore than our share for gas, beer, and anything expenses that pop up. So is anyone interested in taking us out on a trip? Again, we will be willing to travel almost any river thats producing fish. Thank you

Are you a member of the OSU fishing club?

Hey guys. Well, I am self employed and try to do most of my fishing during the weekdays. As such, I often have trouble finding someone to go and share expenses with. When I was in college most of my fishtaking was at the business end of a high powered tripple breakaway spargun, but that's not so practical in these parts and so now I have a pretty sweet little boat.
So email me with your addresses. I'll send ya some pics and stats on the vessel, and we'll plan on slamming some springers soon as the water slows down a little... maybe something saltier. Either of you guys checked out on big blue yet?

No, neither of us are members, any helpful information as to how we could get involved in it? We really have little experience fishing, just looking to learn how.

Our youth is in trouble because college students are never in class! Most of the club has been just spanking the bright hatchery Steelies in an unnamed coastal stream. If they pass even one class it's because they are giving the professor fillets.

first off let me tell you that the students that are in school are busting their tails off in class. I cook for 60 of them and yes they like to play but have very little time to do so because they have tons of studies. Give em a day off and they'll eiher study, work or play hard. You remember dead week. A time to gather yourself and retrace the term in hopes of being ready for finals week. Ha. Although that week is still called dead week it is not. It is full of professors still cramming information that they did not relay in the previous 8 weeks. Oh ya, class was cancelled because the professor was not able to attend. Ya, right buddy. I"m sure that he was the one you saw on the river. Hey, just learning, you can take Mike Gormans class on fly fishing at osu. He is the nicest guy around and he knows both sides of the river and he'll tell you straight up how to do it for yourself. You even get that info plus a grade. Learn to use the system for yourself and stop letting those professors get all the fish.

Hey, give the boys a break. True they may have slightly less demanding constraints on their time as we did in our college days, but looking back, I probably learned as much about life cutting class and spear or surf fishing as I would have had I been a model student.
Perhaps if we share the thrill of the bend, they might become as fishery concious citizens as we need them to be, for the sake of our grandchildren. If not, deep water tells no tails  )

You never know, he may know you if you're from Portland....wel, the Hillsboro area.
Actually, I'd be glad to take you out. LEt me know how to reach you....Talk with you soon.
