I think you may be referring to an "Alumadrifter". My neighbor has one. Check with Stevens Marine.

alumaweld made a sea dory model but I can't remember if it had the square nose or not.

I have an Alumadrifter by Alumaweld. It is 4' across the transom and, unlike a regulat drift boat, it will plane with an 18 horse long shaft motor. You have to use an extension handle and stability could be better on plane.

The boat handles shallow water very well even with a prop. For crossing shallow areas just step forward in the boat and you can raise the prop half out of the water (slow speeds).

When using as a drift boat, you load the weight forward and the wider stern raises out of the water. More resistance than a regular drift boat but fine for moving from hole to hole drift fishing. Not a great plug pulling boat.

Alumaweld will only make them on special order now. A compromise boat that will do bays and trolling much better than a regular drift boat and perform adequately in classic drift boat mode.

The Sea Dory is a regular jet sled except that the entry V is deeper and the nose is higher. This helps when the chop comes up: gives a much drier ride. Great sled for the Columbia or anywhere. I have the 18" with a 115 Merc jet.

i was out looking at boats today when i came across this one. it is definitely an alumaweld but the stern on it is maybe 2ft wide or more instead of coming to the usual point. can anyone tell me anything about this model? i dug around the 'net a bit but didn't see anything that looked like this.

Which end is the stern? graemlins/stupid.gif I remember this model.Don't know what the thinking behind it was.If it is much wider than a "standard" model you have more room. The odd models like this and others(see motor well,as well as the pug that was square on the front and rear)seem to go cheaper than a more traditional boat.If so how does it row?If she does ok, then maybe it's worth a look or lowball offer in a week or so.Remember the metal drifter market is pretty full, so get what you want. There WILL be another.
Good Luck.
Mark.
