6501 reels at Joes

Anybody know what/if any diffences are with the 6501 C3 Special Edition reels at Joes are? At $59 it would be nice to pick up another. They are black, but I assume there is more too it than that, the guy behind the counter said there was no differce?

Are not the 01's a left handed reel?? Thats a difference fromt he 6500.

The 01's a backward reel (lefty). :wink: The decals are a bit difference and the handles are black. I have been told you can get a "pure fishing" rebate book and the $15 rebate on 6500 series reels applies. $45 for a 6501!!!! :shocked:

thanks, I am not a lefty at anything, but somehow I got started using my strong arm on the pole, and don't like changing hands while driftfishing, or bass fishing. So I like the 01 series, but I can go both ways, amphibious i guess, or is that in the water and out of the water.... graemlins/stupid.gif

I don't think the rebate it on, you needed a reciept dated by 3/31 and you need a post mark by 4/15....I know I got a few.

My concern was with the plastic, and if there was something inside that wasn't up to snuff with the regular 650x series. It just seems fishy to me that it is 59 on sale, 79 regular, when there isn't anything regular about real, and it isn't normally sold at Joes?

150 per store and there a still a lot of them, so they are going fast. graemlins/idea.gif I think the limit is to force the feeding frenzy. And when/if I get to the counter and they still have some left, I begin to wonder.....what do you do that I don't? :whazzup:

The Herring are gone, the kwickfish vanish when there is a sale, I can't get Pro baseball tickets, and when my wife wants to go to to the ballet I can't get seats.....so why can I get a 6501SE :wink:

Ask for the PURE FISHING rebate book. It has several rebates for other products as well like berkley XL line. :smile:

I had run over to the Oak Grove GI joes at lunch today and found out that the 6501 C3 "SE" is NOT one of the reels eligible for the rebate in the rebate booklet. But at $59 ~ It's still a good deal.

the 6501 C3 "SE" is a cheap copy of the 6501 c3 spend a couple extra bucks and get the real thing its silver you wont be sorry enless your cheap then you will be sorry 2 years from now always when you have the big fish on and your drag locks up.spend the extra 15-20 buck and get the good one no (special ed.) :wink: modal

6501 C4... a great real for a few extra bucks. 4 bearings, fast retrieve. Not-so annoying clicker.

Buy the reel and go to www.hatterasoutfitters.com (http://www.hatterasoutfitters.com) They have performance parts there that will make this reel a hot rod. Ceramic bearings, super smooth drags, new after market handles, etc. Give it a shot, supermodify your Ambassadeur or Penn. :shocked:

Its the very same reel,they just changed the color of the box ends and the color of the bands on the edge of the reel.These reels were ordered by Walmart for some promotion and then they cancelled the order and GI Joes bought them and are selling them cheap.These are good reels if you check the price you'll notice thats what you would pay after getting the old rebate. :smile:
