Hi Mark. I just went through the same dilema myself. I ended up buying a Cabelas Fish Eagle II 10 foot with a line rating of 8-15 (they offer a lighter version). I received it yesterday and it seems to be well made. They offer a 60 day money back guarantee if you don't like it for any reason. It is a little more than your $65.00 limit, it is $79.95. Your wife seems like a reasonable person, I am sure she will let you go up $20.00.  Thanks for the nice comments on my boat. I hope that motor is working out well for you.
