Clack/Eagle Creek

I'm thinkin of hittin the Clack around Barton and Eagle Creek for Steelhead early next week (before Eagle Creek closes)...how's the water on the clack...since we've had some rain I don't know how much it's pushed it up...it looks like it's around 14.9/15 at Estacada..is that decent water for fishin? ( no access to boat so bankin I will be) Has anybody been on Eagle creek lately that would care to provide input? Lookin at fly-fishin it but will prolly drag my hardware along too.

I have found that the Clack usually fishes best at about 13. to 13.5 on the Estacada flow gage. Last I saw it was 15. +. I think that is a little to high for the upper mid Clack. But if you know where to find them you could do well. :grin:

Just my .02 here but I talk to a guy at work about eagle creek yesterday and he said they have the ladder at the hatchery closed and that the fish are stacking up there. I havent had a chance to go up and check it out my self so I cant confirm the valididy of it. Might be worth a try if you have the time to check it out.

I just rafted the Clack from above Three Lynx down to the weigh station last Sunday. Water levels looked good. Wish I had had my rod with me! :grin:
