******,

Do you have a picture of Rockfish's monster from the thread "Springer on, no wait, sea lion on." (end of page 2)

Reference: Aunty M's post (and link) through Cool Texan. You'll get the idea!

Hunting on ice

In the Arctic, there are no plants to eat so polar bears get most of their food by hunting. They mainly eat seals, especially the ringed seal. They are the best hunters on ice and stalk the seal a couple of ways. The most common way is to sit patiently by a seal’s breathing hole and when the seal comes up for air the bear quickly clubs the seal with its fierce paw or strikes with an open jaw. A polar bear can also sneak up on a seal by slowly crawling, hidden by its camouflaged fur in the ice and snow. Occasionally, a polar bear will attack from the water.

1) From a distance, a polar bear spots a seal across the water.
2) It swims silently across the channel with only its head above the water. As it gets close, it goes underwater.
3) Then, it quickly springs to the surface and lunges at the helpless seal.
4) The dead seal is dragged off to be eaten. A polar bear usually eats one seal every six days or so.

Jeff,

That pic is too funny.

Is Rockfish talking seal or sea lion?

I found this link.

Did anyone see AirJaws on Discovery a month or so ago? Perhaps we could release some of those guys in the Columbia. Would probably cut down on the number of Jet Skiers, too.
