I started learning to fish for steelhead this year..thinking they were only imaginary fish. But, thanks to Lance (www.pacificcoastadventures.net), I found out they're for REAL -- and I'm still reelin'...This came from the lower Nestucca...bout half way through our day -- was too cold in the morning -- they started to bite at noon. Caught this on a pink puff ball

Stoyjun, they guessed it at 39-40 inches, translated to 19-20#...he was a warrior...had seal scars on his side :-)

Great job. Congrats. I have fished with Lance Deuth a few times and had good success also. He is also one of the top guides for Salmon fishing in the Buoy 10 area during the summer. Also a fun guy to talk with while waiting on the bite.

Great fish and there are more out there and Lance
knows where they are....I have fished with Lance
several times, he not only has good equipment and
a clean boat, but his puff ball gets the job done
and a great guy to be around.
See you on the river.

Fishinlady, WOW... what a great picture. Congrats on that one. A fish like that will make your day. How long did it take you to get him in the boat?

Stoyj, though I think I was stunned outa my mind when that guy bit, it must've been a 15 minute tug-o-war with him -- he didn't dance on top -- but when I saw his tail roll out of the water, I knew he was a whopper. He tried his best to get away by getting a snag in the middle of the river between us, and pretty much took all the line he wanted, while I figured I was going to have a skinless thumb when done -- Lance got us into position and we landed him...what a day! THAT is at the top of my best fishing memories for sure
Charlie -- you're absolutely right - Lance sure knows his stuff -- Spooled, we've compared notes with Lance out at Buoy 10 too, and he's always outfished us!
