Has anyone used or heard of these? At 40% of the Scotty's price it seems like a good deal. I was going to make my own but this might be more useful with the variable control and readout.

Do a search, I believe this topic has been crashed around here several times, with some really good article references, etc.

Kenia,
Thanks for the direct reply. I admit I am a sucker for toys to play with when the fishing is slow. I checked my downrigger current and it was 2.7 so cleaning my zincs didn't help. Should I add zincs or what?? No, buying a new boat is not an option.

For $100 it may be worth the try. It seems to me that 2.7 is pretty high. Maybe you have an electrical leak somewhere in the boat. If you go the Scotty web site they have some useful info on checking your electrical system to make sure you are not leaking current out of your boat.

I think the Black box works for kokanee and it was on my wish list but could not afford the magnum price Scotty wants so the Cabela's option is a way I will go.
