What I use is Chaeil - Sabiki Herring Jigs.
Tie them to your line with about 1- to 2 oz of lead.
I sell them for 1.69 each at my tackle store.
I can also mail you some. WE take VISA. graemlins/hearton.gif

You can jig for herring in Newport or Reedsport.
Newport is the best. Bigger herring found here.
Work the incoming tide.
Thanks for asking,

Does anyone know if there is a herring run in the estuary at the mouth of the Columbia? There is a run at Newport south of us and a run at Westport north of us, it just seams like we should get some here also.
