Ifish Members,
My name is Eric Linde. I used to work at Fisherman's Marine and Outdoor and I now work for Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewing. In the past I did all the promotion work for Fisherman's on the Sturgeon Derby. I've now gone out on my own and started Northwest Charity Tournements. All proceeds from the Sturgeon Derby go to The Northwest Sportfishing Industry Assocation. We have improved the Derby this year by taking it to a new venue the Portland Expo Center. We also opened it to 250 teams which should give us room to grow over the next few years. Sponsership of this event has been tremendous with North River Boats and Yamaha Outboards stepping up to the plate this year. Those of you who have fished this event over the past 10 years know that we promote this event for the fisherman.(You get alot of bang for your buck) I hope all of you get involved with this Derby this year. If you have any questions please ask them here or call Fisherman's and they will foward them to my cell phone. Please give us a try it's one of the funnest events around!

Remember: Keep your head down your tail up and allow for the wind!
Best Wishes

Eric Linde

Team Yeeha,
Well I can almost assure you it won't be me. I have only got 1 keeper in the last 6 years. The big question is due you go up or down river? I'm hearing good reports both ways and the tide will be running out all day. One thing I do know is the chances are pretty good a WILLIE boat with a Yamaha V-MAX will win the race to the cape!

Nice to here that North River guys helped out with this. They are good folks!

I will be there in mine with the top up and heater running with a team of the best Sturgeon catchers around and a top notch deck hand to keep the bait fresh.

Thanks for keeping this great event going Eric!

Slutgoddess,

All the sponsors have been great this year and have made it possible to take this Derby to a new level. After the problems we had last year with food and sound systems I think this will be pretty special. The Expo center has given us a ton of room and nice round tables with real table clothes. After years of cramming 500 people into a room for 400 it should be nice! Thanks for the support.

Eric, we appreciate the extra room. I think I'll go to the dinner this year.

Hey Eric,

Were there any issues with mailing out the invites to last years attendies? I thought being our team won last year we would have been given a chance to defend our title. Our capt. Terry K. never saw anything about it. I kinda hoped to have that #1 plate on the side of the boat.
Just to spark a little interest ~
What's on the table for 1st place this year?

No we really didnt have any issues sending out invitations this year compared to the past. What usually happens though is a change in address or improperly filled out entry form. I don't remember that name in our returned entries. If you would like in please let me know. I love your idea of the previous years winners having the number 1 team number. What do I do with big fish winner? 1st place this year will recieve a custom rod built by YO'S CUSTOM RODS in SoCal. On that rod will be a PENN INTL. 16S 2-speed reel. It's a trick set up for big fish. Each combo is worth about $700. Then some of the nicest trophys around and of course a bottle of JACK DANIEL'S Single Barrel.

Eric,

Is there a flyer or website that spells everything out? If not, here are some questions:

1. Entry fee; $75 per angler AND $250?
2. What time is the captain's meeting and is it required (driving up from down south, would rather come up Sat. morning).
3. What time is the banquet and does the entry fee cover it?
4. How do we reserve a spot. Are there on-line entry applications?
Thanks for the help

Cool prize (Custom rods) ya baby. Sturgzilla You are the KING. Somehow can you make it so more teams win prizes and not the same teams over and over. Have someone other than Mike pull names out of the hat so he will pick people he does not know  what do you say STURGZILLA  Remember who gave you bait last year

Team Yeeha
Circle hooks rule and so does STURGZILLA

ED,

No we don,t have a web site. We did advertise in F&H news. Here's the skinny.Cost is $75/ person $225/ team.Captains meeting has beem changed from Sat. morning to Fri. night so it dose'nt make the day so long. We now have a Fri. night social where you can come go thru sign enjoy a no-host bar and appetizers and hang out. If you'er all business the actual captains meeting is 7:30 to 8:00p.m. You don't have to go to the captains meeting as we can have your packet at the tent at your assigned boat ramp. The awards banquet is Sat. from 4:00p.m. till about 8 or 9p.m. Fishermans Marine can take your entry right over the phone at (503)283-0044 ask for Jennifer she'll know what's going on.

Thanks for the reply
Eric

High Hopes is signed up and ready to go. Been going since the program began.
The Arima is loaded for Stugeon, the team is ready, all we need is the winds gods to be nice.
Eric I do hope that 2nd launch teams aren't leaving at the same time the ist launch teams this year, we saw one boat with a green number last year pull in next to us within 5 minutes and we were the fastest boat there last year. It's a shame some teams can't follow the rules.
I am looking forward to another great derby, and Eric thanks for all the hard work you have done in the past and the fun we have all had every year,
HighHOPES

Eric,

A few questions if I may; I've not competed in this derby yet but would like to this weekend.

1) Is there any way to sign up/register without driving to the expo center? Is there someone I can call with CC numbers?

2) What are the pertinant rules? Start and stop times? Areas open for derby qualifying fish? Is there an official sheet or booklet you can send me?

Please email me with your response: dconstance@earthlink.net

Thanks!
DC

Howdy Kim! Who are you fishing with?
I have so much sturgeon fishin' talent on my team they don't need me (I'm the weakest link) but we're gonna have fun. Going over to Bill's tonight to wax the bottom of his boat with Maries' Sturgeon oil. Have fun out there and good luck!
