My friend called me tonight to ask about the Oregon Fishing Club. He got an invite in the mail and wanted to know if it was worth it. Even with the steep discounts he was blabbering on about, it was too rich for my blood. He has a bit of income and was very interested. Has anyone here been a member? Anyone here still a member? Is it worth the dough for this guy to sign up? Lotsa of lakes and stuff and 14 river access points. Gimme all the stink you can on this outfit! Thanks all!!!!! :whazzup:
ZAQ, I have been a member for 10 years and it is worth the money to get a membership.

You can email me too about it, I've been a member for the last three years and enjoy it a bunch. Worth it ? Oh yeah, especially for salmon/steelies or parents with future fisherman. :smile:

great group of folks, definitely worth the dough. I am personally "income challenged" but found a way to pay the dues. I would reccommend it to almost anyone, dues are 300$ a year, cheaper than cable, cell phone service, a bad habit or going out and buying drift boat(I would love to be able to do that!). Variety of waters means fishing year round.
Membership is a onetime cost(but can be financed) and memberships can be transfer only once. Memberships can't be sold for more than they originally cost.I'm pointing out these things about membership because the cheapest route to go may be to find someone that is selling an existing membership.The way to find out if someone is interested in selling a membership is contact the OFC office and ask, also they may occasionally show up in the classifieds.

I've been a member for almost 5 yrs, (expires in ~August). I personally don't use it enuff to justify the cost, mainly because I live in Hillsboro and the closest property is almost an hour away. Some of the better properties are 1 1/2 to 2hours from me. They have some really nice properties but in 4 1/2 yrs they haven't been able to get a property any closer, which was "a priority" when I joined. I don't have any Idea what it's worth but I could be talked into selling it, give you a 3-4 month trial, possibly a previous member discount if you want to renew.

DP- When Ifish hooks me up with more than fishing buddies, I might not renew with OFC. But since I can access some great property, I'll stick with them. :shocked: :rolleyes: I'll stick to meeting new friends to take along ,here on this site :smile: :smile:

I had been curious for sometime as well. Have heard others talk about it and did the ifish search for the topic and some good some bad opinions. I need more justifaction for the $$. I wanted to see what they meant by camping offered at their sites? Sometimes it is impossible a spot at state parks. The OFC seem to have some prime spots. As secruity has its price. How transferable are the memberships?

The camping available is at 11 of our properties. It is a dry camp (flat spot, picnic table, fire ring, garbage can, and outhouse). Most of the time members are camping by themselves. A reservation is required, and it is $5/night/vehicle. A membership can be transfered by the holder selling it to a willing recipient. A fee of 5% of original purchase price is charged for book keeping expenses. You can't sell it for more than you paid for it, and it can only be transfered once. The server crashed over the weekend, but the web site is up and running now. A packet of info can be received by contacting the Club by telephone (877) 521-8947 or email ofc@ofc.org. The west side is still a priority and we are actively pursuing a location, but it is very difficult to find an agreeable landowner with a large enough pond and good water quality. We aren't going to be satisfied with another Beaverton Pond.
