as long as you have towing insurance, go for it! actually, i don't own a boat and don't tow anything. however, when i do get a boat i'll probably go with the standard setup (ie, receiver hitch). instead of the swivel hitch, here's an idea. back up to your target and hook those the two chains (hopefully) attached to your trailer to your bumper (don't forget to criss-cross). then drive up a few inches to align the hitch, then back a few inches to put the ball under the hitch. it's just an idea, i've never tried it myself. as long as you have a swivel wheel on the jack and it'll deal with the terrain, this should work.
anyone else got any good ideas or think mine is downright stupid?

Hello, I just wanted to say this is a great site. I enjoy salmon fishing on the Will., Columbia and coastal bays. Does anyone use a trailer hitch with an adjustable draw arm? These ball mounts extend out from your hitch, and also swivel side to side. So that you just have to get "close" with your truck, then move the hitch ball to your trailer. (I have a heavy boat.) The two types I've seen in magazines are : QuickStep and cushion swivel hitch from Schuck Mfg. Tell me if they work well or if you would spend the money again. Thanks in advance.
