I thought the early part of the season was good. Yesterday, was by far the best day this season. Three fisherman, three different spots, 21 fish, and two limits. The biggest was 14lbs. Anyone else do good yesterday.

William, Great day on the river and it doesn't matter what river. Great job and appreciate the post. Were you fishing from a sled, drift boat or banking it? I gonna follow you one of these days.

That was a good day by any standard.

I'm going to give it a try tommorrow. Any suggestions on locations or techniques? We'll be in a drift boat.

BTW, I stopped by Clackamette Park yesterday to take and look, and the river appeared to be high and a bit off color. Didn't look like ideal conditions to me.

thanks in advance.....Mike

William,
I saw the Clack @ High Rocks yesterday and it did not look like a river that I would fish. It was high and a touch too brown for me.
Where were you fishing, and at what time of day?

I fished up high below the dam, via McIver park. Fished below the dam, below dog creek and the lower park. All had fish, but the dam and dog creek were most productive.

Hey Mike, check your E-mail.

For all those interested it was from the bank. When the water is high like it has been for the last few days, those holes fish better from the bank. Its just to hard to get to them with a boat. I'm just heading out the door for eagle creek, will give report later.

I was there on the Clack Saturday. T.U.r.d. brown

Just e-mail them to Jen and she can post pictures for you. You sure you were not at home in your recliner with you bass master 2002 pretending to catch that many fish? graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Take your camera William so we can enjoy your catches too.

By the way, I caught 350 fish yesterday for 3 isher persons  Ah yes....they were only herring of course.

Oh yeah, did catch one fish on the Clack on saturday. It was about 10 or so. Inches that is. graemlins/lurk.gif

Seems like those places should have fished well. Something about the water clearing up high first. It's been said before :
Carver to the mouth is a bad judge for the "upper river". I believe D.C. should be just starting to kick out lots of fish ! Same for below the dam. It's just that time.

Way to go William ( even if you are stretching   )

It's no secret that the tailout below dog creek holds ALOT of steelhead a few times a year. Problem is that they are usually getting dark when they're sitting there. I think I can say that William's not lying. I don't know him and didn't see him Saturday, but that one spot can pump out some fish. Last time we fished there, we put 11 in the boat and kept 9. There were 3 of us in the boat. I live on Springwater Rd. right down the road from McIver park and know the holes quite well.

The water between Barton to Carver was pea soup.

That spot doesn't fish well unless the water is high. The fish pull into the eddy there below dog creek and stage there until ready to head up to the hatchery.

Take your camera William so we can enjoy your catches too <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Not everyone takes their camera with them every time. I rarely do when bank fishing. Hate to think any stories without accompanying photos would be considered lies.

Hey C&E,

I guess I just don't call people a liar unless I KNOW FOR A FACT they are. If you didn't fish with William last weekend, then I think you should lay off the accusatory tone.

My partner and I had a 23 fish day this year in high off-colored water. Not too many other people were out there.........they must have been home watching games because the water was "too high". If you look in STS over the next couple issues, I'm sure you'll see some of the photos.....that way you won't have to be a doubting Thomas. Of course we didn't get all 23 in one photo, so maybe you will...........

Sure he can.

But wouldn't it be better to doubt him and leave it off the BB?

Didn't mean to step on your toes. I don't know William, so I can't vouch for him, but I know that those things DO happen sometimes.

I don't know William, but I can say that area does put out on high water. Best days I had was in mid-Jan when the water was 13.7-14ft. Limits on both days with several more released or lost.

I wonder how many people will show up at that spot next high water?

Ok everyone, let's all go back to our corners with our rods. There. No at the cout of three, run like Forest Gump at the next high water to the Clackamas. We will All crowd in like it is a Kenai fish run. Oh yes, and with our cameras no doubt?

I guess I will just have to take Williams word this time. Man crow tastes ok with lots and lots of ketchup  Sorry William, I will leave this alone except take some picts dude, we want to see your catch next time.

Dan S. graemlins/icon_argue.gif  agree to disagree. I will bow out and exit stage left and give you the last word. graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Ahh... but not everyone has a digi camera or a scanner. That is my case, plenty of pics just no way to put them up, unless I happen to run into someone with a digi camera

I don't know William, but I do know plenty of talented fisherman that usually outfish most, under all conditions. Just the way it goes.

Thanks y'all, but anyone who doubts I've got an open invite to see this firsthand. There are always people who have a bit of skepticism if they are not direct witness to stuff like this, but I'll tell everone that none of the reports here or anywhere are fabricated. Fishing is my life and to be less than completely truthful would not only be dishonost it would comprimise me. Anyone who knows me, can give testiment to this. This site is the best and to ***** it with lies wouldn't be right.

Not taking sides, but i am one of those without a scanner or digital camera at home. I borrowed a digital camera from work and took some photo's of some hard copy still photo's and they turned out pretty good. So if someone you know has a digital camera that you can
borrow and would like to post photo's give it a try ( the drawback is you still have to wait for your film to be developed).

I've been watching this post and hoping that it would just go away, but it isn't, so hopefully I can clear up some things and that will be the end of it.

I have no doubt that William and his buddies caught that many fish. He doesn't say weather they were fish landed or fish hooked, but either way, it is some impressive numbers.

I doubted him back in December when he was saying there were a lot of fish in the Clack up there. Well, I made a trip up there and hooked 20+ fish, landing 15 of them. I'm not the only ifisher who has done that well either. There is some phenomenal fishing if you know where you're going and what you're doing. I've had several other great days in the area too. I can think of only one trip out of over a dozen where I didn't land multiple fish.

You have to understand a few things though. First of all, these are predominately NATIVE WILD FISH! I don't think they should support a huge fishery. One of the last thing I want is for a lot more attention brought to the area. I would never dream of telling some one what he should or should not post, but I do wish William wouldn't be so open about the fishery. This is admitedly hypocritical of me, because I wouldn't have known about it's steelhead potential without William's reports. Still, posting these secret locations doesn't help out the fishery or the environment. There are some things that just shouldn't be posted on a BB of this size.
