I was up river today but heard a sled went down across from Meldrum. Someone trying to break their anchor loose by tying off on the back of the boat. Anyone see this?

I heared the same story. John left out the info on the boat owner. HE was a retired officer and teaches boating safety. We heard he was not wearing a pfd either. I'm not so sur eI want to attend his class. Only thing lost was his pride as everything stayed in the boat, except for himself. Just how much could a 15' of rope and an anchor be worth, His life?

I saw this just after it happened. I had talked the wife into going out for a drive and show her where we would be going salmon fishing in the next few weeks. We drove up to see this boat flipped over just below the 205 bridge. Person in the water swimming for the anchor float. His boat is upside-down drifting down river with anchor dragging. First boat offers a floatation device but man in water hangs tight to the anchor float. The next boat (with three onboard) pulls man from water. Man had been in the water maybe 5 minutes. Upside down boat is heading for two other boats that are anchored down river just a short distance. They manage to get the anchor rope pulled in and drag the boat out into the current and away from the other anchored boats. Sheriff boat now shows up with just one officer onboard. The upside down boat is drifted down river and up to the boat ramp. This takes maybe 45 minutes.
Nobody in the boat that was pulling the upside down boat back to the dock had a life jacket on and no life jackets close by. The man pulled from the water was still in his wet clothes but did finally take his wet shirt off and put on a dry jacket. The man in the water had a lucky day all things considered.

Stuck anchor. Tied the anchor rope off to the stern of the boat and tried to power it out. Pulled the stern under water. Boat fills and sinks.
