I've been watching the counts over the falls and have been patiently waiting for the river to come in shape. This is the first time in a few years that it's been open prior to April 1.

So, since its close to home and it's the river I know best, I headed out to see what was shakin'. Turns out a beautiful 12# steelie couldn't pass up my spinner. It had too many fins, which was expected, but he put up a good fight and was carefully released. Not bad for just a few hours of fishing.

rainrshine, I was several miles above St. Paul.

Swampy, I was not the only one who has been waiting. Got to the ramp and there were 6 other rigs there! The color is that real deep green and it's still dropping. I'd guess it dropped 2 or 3 inches while I was there. Go get em'.

******, ............
