Dudley Nelson caught an 18 pound spring chinook at 8:04 this morning, February 16th, 2002!
It was his first time out for springers on the Willamette, this year.
He fished four minutes before hooking this apparent winner. (?)
He reported in to Fisherman's Marine store at aproximately 9:30 AM at the Oregon City Location, and the picture was taken.
If anyone has taken an earlier entry, please let us know, as Dudley can't hold his breath until March 10th!

Last year, on his first trip out, he caught two!
His father taught him well. (And we all miss him).
I think congratulations are in order, but it is frustrating not to know for sure! Unless you have checked this fish in at one of the checkpoints, your fish is not valid.
Dudley is sending me the picture, as he does not own a digital camera, nor does he have an internet connection. He will register with his daughter's computer.
Please, feel free to post all of your springer pictures here, as we proceed into a super season!
I hesitate to congratulate him yet.... But... Hey Dud! I think you have it!!!
We have got a call in to the other check points. If they don't beat the 9:30 entry, it's DUD!

I saw a guy catch a Springer around Oregon City today and this was off the bank. The fish was a keeper so I quickly took off my ifish hat so there would be no ouestions asked. There were two Steelhead caught also during the time I was observing.

Jennie, I demand to see that fish. It probably has gillnet marks or freezer burn. Did he register before or after he caught the fish? I just don't trust that guy. I've never seen him actually catch a fish. He'll probably get a full page article by Bill Monroe on this one! Hey all you Ifishers, I'm just kidding. Dud's one heck of a guy and a friend to boot. Welcome aboard Dud. By the way, where are my Dud's plugs you promised me two years ago? graemlins/1zhelp.gif graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Hi there Fishalot.
Did he check it in at a check point?
Let me know what time.
Read the rules, he has to check it in and get a time/date stamp on it.
Well, not on the fish, but...
It's kind of a race to the store this way!

I got my Dud's plugs last year! They are awesome! I'm not sharing either!

Jennie I asked the guy if he had heard of ifish and he said yes, however he had not felt inclined to sign on. At that point I thought that he had his chance and getting the prize would be the only reason he signed on. The real reason is I wanted that Lami in your closet for myself. He caught the fish at around 2:30.

Dang, I get home after running into portland with my springer to Fisherman's to enter it into the contest. I then proceed to search through the posts only to see I missed it by a few days. :depressed:

The Delta park store said I was the first at their location to enter the contest and I got all excited. I had them hole punch my fish. Take hat pictures and everything right down to the tee. I was in there for twenty minutes at least crossing the T's and dotting the I's. They took all the measurements and were even sending the photo in for me. Really nice guy helping me there. I forget his name.

I caught the fish near Cathlamet and it dressed out it weighed in at 17lbs 5 oz. They figured it at over 20 with the guts and stuff intact.

Maybe next year I'll beat the clock???

First time I wore my Ifish hat out fishing....it must be goodluck.

Time to go cut the fish.
