Hey YOU! Out of the gene pool! Sure hope some of his siblings made it upstream. What a beauty.

A rather strong argument for getting the nets out of the rivers. Imagine the value of this fish in a broodstock program or even better in the river ( notice the intact fin).

Before the "netting wild fish" bandwagon gets rolling.........this is most likely a hatchery fish, judging from the short dorsal and tattered a-n-a-l fin. Not all hats on the Quinault get an adipose clip, so don't jump to conclusions.

Background on the Quinault:
One of Washington most heavily gill netted rivers. Modern gill nets have been used for 70 plus years. Only about 15 percent of the hatchery fish are clipped. 30 pound plus fish every year. As the hatchery run decreases so does the netting. No drift nets allowed. Nets restricted to the lower 7 miles. Supports a sport guide fishery, and a commercial fishery.
