Springer Fishermen Needed!!

Forty to fify fisherman are needed to participate in the "First Annual Royal Family Kids Camp Springer Derby". This is a fund raiser for abused/neglected kids to attend a camp this summer for a week.

The event is to raise money to help kids who have had a tough time in life to experience a week they may never have experienced in their lives, some have not even had a birthday party! The camp is in Canby and will offer a week long event for the 30-40 kids who are chosen to participate. The kids who are chosen come from foster homes, may have been severally abused and have a difficult time coping with everyday life. What better way to show a child a refreshing view of life by giving them a camping experience which includes many activities such as fishing, hiking, commardarie of others, mentorship, love, smores :-), and many other events that go along with camping.

We have professional guides lined up, Dave Johnson and Bob Reese have committed, we are talking to many others and some big time names, our goal is to have 10-15 guides participate. We intend to fill each guides boat with participants (none of the kids for the camp will fish as this is a fund raiser) and to have a limit of 50 fishermen. The cost will be $150 per person and we will have trophies for different catagories of the event such as most fish per boat, most weight, biggest fish and others. There will also be a free BBQ after the fishing and also an auction. We have donations from:
G Loomis
Fishermans Supply
Mt Hood Custom Rods
TieMaster
Oregon Ducks
And several others, which we also have calls into Lamiglas, Rainshadow, GI Joes, Wordens, Luhr Jensen, Salmon Trout & Steelheader, and many others who will participate in this event. Remember, this is an event to raise funds for abused children!

If you are interested in joining this event it will be held at Clackamette Park on Friday, May 3rd, the peak of the springer season. We have the park reserved and will be putting up large tents. All monies rasied through this event will go to assisting the kids with their camping experience.

Anyone wanting to participate and fish with a guide please send me an email and I will respond and if there are any guides interested please email me.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this  .

This is a pre-notification, flyers will be distributed within the next couple of weeks as soon as the logo is complete so if you are interested in helping kids, fishing with a guide, bbq and the other activities don't hesitate to sign up because once the flyers hit the public, this event will be full very quickly.

Wow, I'm really disappointed in the lack of response of fishermen. :depressed:

This is an event for kids who need help and what better way than to send them to camp. Come on folks, don't miss out on this springer derby!

FM2 count me in. I'm no fishing guide but I do fish for springers up in the Oregon city area and most of all I enjoy kids. I'm the game director at our church's AWANA program at Lake Bible. I'll sound out the call for other friends with boats that might be able to help.

Thanks to those who have responded  This will be a fun event with the goal of helping the kids. It's a real blessing to provide a kid life long memories and this camp surely provides that!

Don't miss out, we have received many more donations from the following companies:

Rainshadow-donating a rod blank and all the components to build a complete unit

Salmon, Trout & Steelheader-Many books

Spoke with GI Joes, Lamiglas, Holdzit, Blazers and others. We will have some awesome items for the auction.

Hope to see ya there!

From my original post:

We have professional guides lined up, Dave Johnson and Bob Reese have committed, we are talking to many others and some big time names, our goal is to have 10-15 guides participate. There will also be a free BBQ after the fishing and also an auction. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">There appears to be some confusion, we don't need folks with boats at this time, only people who want to fish with a guide. If for some reason we can't get enough guides then we will be looking for volunteers with boats who know the area to take participants out.

I apologize for any misunderstandings :depressed:

Received donations from GI Joes, STS and a Bed & Breakfast to add to the growing list for this truly wonderful cause.

I received the flyer draft today for design, within 2 weeks flyers will be at every place you go so if you want to get in on this charitable event for abused/abandoned kids, now is the time before the flyers go public.

The event is limited to 50 participants.
