Going over the wall in the morning for a much needed fishing escape. Planning on heading to the Chetco for the first time. Had hoped to book a guide, but didn't know for sure whether I'd be able to make the trip. More than likely not going to haul the boat down, as I have to be back on Monday evening. Any and all help as to bank fishing opportunities would be greatly appreciated. Also, any gear shops in the know down there that I should stop by and see? This is mainly an exploratory adventure for future trips, but, hey, I'd still like to catch a steelhead or two, or ten, you know?
SC is low right now but expecting a good rain storm tonight and into the weekend.
Haven't heard about the Checto, but the Elk and Sixes are fishing very well. Mornings and evenings are best now due to the low/clear water.
SF of the Coquille would be avvery good bet.. expect to see 1,000,000,000 people this weekend. The SF will fish better this weekend than any in the last 4-5 weeks. I noticed that the motels were filling up fast in Coquille, and Coos Bay.. and there was a ton of boat traffic on the roads this morning as I head out for work. (I had to work today :depressed: but yesterday was Awesome!
Shoot me an email if you would like a few guide references.. for the Chetco and Elk/Sixes.

Chetco is probably full of fish although maybe a bit low and clear.
Head up the North Bank road and there are several bank access points.... Loeb Park, Miller Bar, Little Redwood and a few others. It won't be hard to spot them as there will likely be lots of company.
Lower Rogue has been very good too from what I hear.
It is a beautiful river....enjoy.
