I am finally getting around to bolting the bow chock on the new sled. Since the old minn kota takes up most of the snout, it is going to cause me grief later to place the chock and cleat about 1 to 2 feet off of center line? Im also up for any slick ideas found only on ifish.

Your boat will not go straight back from your anchor. With the rope off center, you will pull a couple of boat widths to whatever side of center you are. May be kind of a pain if you anchor in the hoglines. I have mine mounted dead center with hooks spaced at 6" and 12" on each side. That way, in a hogline, if I am a bit tight to the boat next to me, I can move the rope over one hook and my boat will shift a boats width or so. Don't know what you are going to do with the electric motor in the way. Perhaps someone will have an idea.

I have a bow mount on the front of my sled. What I had them do was weld a raised platform over my anchor chock. The platform is about 4" high and is the same size in demensions as the quick release plate mount. The platform is set at an angle over the chock. The only down side to this is you have to feed the anchor line through the chock under the platform, but it's not that big of a deal. It looks like a part of the boat the way it's done. If you don't have the quick release plate I would get one, so when your not using the electric trolling motor it can be easly removed. Like brshooter said you might have some problems if the anchor chock is offset.

I might be able to come up with a picture if you would like to see how mine is done.

Cannonball,
I use two quick release mounts. When I
want to anchor I slide the electric out
and slide it into the mount on the side
of my boat. I then slide the mount, (that
I have engineered with a roller and quick
release chock), into the release that I
pulled the electric out of. You just need
two of the rigs and you will be all
dialed in.

FEAR NO FISH, must be correct, great idea!!! DO you use an anchor ball with this setup? Im just imaging pulling the anchor below McNary and donating the setup to the sturgeon. Also, we need to hook up for some springer fishing, i can't believe they gave us land lubbers three months worth. graemlins/lurk.gif

Cannonball,
I have used that setup below Bonnevile
many times. I positioned my mount to
where eveything slides in from the boat
side not the front side. Be careful by
the wing wall, on the WA. side, at
McNary. In the bottom of that hole by the
end of the wingwall there is a whole
chitload of rebar waiting to gobble up
your anchor. I had an anchor slip off and
swing down into that beyetch. Believe you
me that was an exciting experience. Good
thing for sharp knives.
I rented a house down in Stevenson for
the month of April. Right on the
Columbia, one mile from the Wind River
fishery. I am all dialed in! SPRINGERS
BEWARE!
