I have used graphites since 1973 still have the first Lamiglass that has been widely traveled, air, train, back of the pick up, motorcycle....yet last year I bought 3 Berkley's and have broke the tips on 2, they both broke about 14" from the tip. I have to say Fisherman's Marine was good about replacing them, the last time I was told that they have had to replace a bunch of them, then he suggested a 1 piece 7'6" XH thought that I had found a great Fall Nookie stick,,, now the damn thing is 6" shorter,,one of FM representive suggested that I am high sticking..Anybody out there having problems with their Berkley's ???

I have two berkleys and i love them. one steelhead one salmon. I have fished them really hard and they are still going strong. I have found nothing wrong with these rods.

I've been using the 7'6"XB rod for gators his season. Can believe you've been breaking them. I've stressed the daylights out of it and haven't had a problem. I have a 8'6" XH , MH and the 7'6" XB and haven't broke any of them yet.......

Hey Steve, bought 4 of the berkley 8'6" MH last year. Never used berkley before, but freddies was selling them with the ambasseduer 5500 c3 as a combo for 49 bucks apiece! Had to buy a few for family and friends to use on my trips. No problems whatsoever, I actually like these poles and use them myself now. I own a couple of high end Lami's and I've broken both at least once. I think I'm done spending piles of cash on overpriced poles. Got a couple of Garcia's that perform well too. I get a much more relaxed feeling when I hand off a 60 or 70 dollar pole to my rookie friends and family.

I didn't mean to say that I didn't like Berkley's I have used the Ultra-Lite rods for years, but had a rash of tip problems until I got the one that I have now... about 20 years old now...still in use,,, that is why I am so disappointed in the current situation. The rep. at FM showed me a spot on the rod that looks like a factory problem a slight swell in the taper just at the breaks. Maybe like someone said "It's probably a bad bunch"...???

I've been using a couple g-1000 Lamiglass rods for drifting and spinner tossing for 15+ years and was eyeballing the Gl3 loomis rods at the show. Then I read how many of you use the berkley, all-star and other mid-range rods.

Are they as sensitive as a g-1000? I'd like to try them out but cannot give up the feel I've become accustomed too if it's of a lesser sensitivity. I like the idea of spending less than $100 on a comparable rod. The Loomis rods aren't cheap and my wife already thinks I'm nuts for wanting another rod.

Have any of you gone from a Lamiglass or Loomis to a mid-range rods and were you happy or dissapointed with the results?
