Life of leader

My father-law gave me his lifelong collection of fishing equipment. Rods,reels and tackle, including a bunch of tied salmon leaders. These things are any where from 15 to 25 years old. Would the mono be ok or would I be better off just salvaging the hooks and tossing the mono?

If you are planning to fish with them, then remove the old mono and replace it. If you are going to keep them as keepsakes then leave them on. Monofiliment is very suseptable to UV light from the sun and quickly becomes much weaker than the original strength rating if left exposed.
