I am looking to get my first drift boat, however, one place I like to fish is the rivers around West Yellow stone in the summer. My issue is I drag a bumper camp trailer (28ft)and need to put my drift boat on the top of the truck (CC w/ft bed) because Oregon won't let me drag two trailers like MT&ID. Anybody ever see a DB on a topper, I have with smaller lake boats such as 14-16ft Valcos/McGregor and the like, but can it be done with a drift boat (upright or upside down?) I know I am a glutten for punishment.
Any advise?
And yes I am contemplating the pontoons but to get one large enough to fish 2 I will start having the same issue.
thanks, dennis

I have seen guys that built ramps in the bed of their truck and ran the trailer up it.
Looks kinda weird but what the heck if it gets the job done.

The is actually a guy that builds these babies and he is usually at the boat shows each year. The ramps are very cool and will allow you to tow the trailer and hall the db and trailer on the truck. Seems like they run right around $1200.
Just wish I could remember the name of that dude. A drift boat and trailer would work just fine on it too.
Someone out the has to have this information.

Thanks, I guess I have seen those too, and it would allow me to have the trailer once the big one is removed. Then I could drop the trailer down away from the boat ramp and not be such a specticle! Boat ramps are always entertaining.
the only issue is I have to remove the canopy, but I guess you can't have it all...or can you?
have you seen the ones that allow you to have the canopy also. a buddy from work has a crew cab and pulls a fifthwheel trailer. he built or had built a rack that goes out in front over the cab and hood. the 2inch square tube comes out from the frame up by the bumper and just behind the cab, it goes up just over the cab and a platform is welded using lightweight grating. he hauls a couple of 4-wheelers up there so its gotta be strong enough for a driftboat. its also removable. it would probably be alot easer to remove you canopy though and build one for the bed. with four wheelers he just drives up to the top and that looks freaky enough. you'd have a heck of a time with a driftboat. hope this helps. and good luck.

I went searching for boat carriers and found this. Looks just like what you are talking about. The demo looks easy enough and it should work great with a drift boat.
