Hi all,

I know Eagle creek dumps into Clackamas, I just don't know where people goes to fish it. Can anybody tell me a few things like...
how to get there, where to park, areas to fish and do you think it'll be fishable tomorrow?

Thanx,
SN

I am not sure were you are or were you are coming from, however, the simplest thing to remember is eagle creek is before you get to Estacada as you travel from Clackamas. Before you get to Estacada, you will see a sign for Wildcat Mtn. RD., Fish Hatchery take it(its a lefty)!Stay on it for 2-2 1/2 miles take a quick right on Eagle Fern Rd. another 3 miles and you will see Eagle Fern County Park on the right. This is your starting point lots of fishing water, people to steer you towards fish, etc..The hatchery is further upstream,I will let someone more experienced get you there its only another 6-10miles.The park has lots of water, and downstream access.Watch for proivate property and respect their wishes. You will note turnouts on the way to the park remember those and check them out.
Jishable tommorrow ??? Depends on how fast the snow melts up there(about 600ft) and above.Let us know how you did.

Fished the creek a couple hours this morning. The creek was running low and a little off green, looked good, but no fish for me. I actually had 1 o'clock rock to myself, low fishing pressure.

well i found it. with a mixture of trying to learn how to cast a bait-caster, the cold and my little daughter.. i didn't do good at all.

i'm starting to feel sorry for myself now. two years+ of trying for a steelhead and all i've got is a 1/2 pounder on the klamath, a couple trout on the clackamas, a trout on the sandy and hundreds poorer. oh well, the drive continues.

What a trooper! That first steelie will be that much more sweeter.I get the iedea you have decided to go level wind.I tooo have a level wind, nice reels but nasty with the birds nests.Work better with an optimium amount of weight. And fishing that creek usuallly dosen't require much. I have decided to use a spinning reel in small streams they work better and I can use my time fishing not digging out knots.Allows for more versitility also(ie bobber and jig, drift, spinners).
Hang in there and you will score; perhaps we will meet on the river. Until then ....goood luck!

as i was digging out a birds nest from my new reel, an older gentleman came by with two spinning rods... he said he's got 5/6 bait casters at home but here he uses the spinners and asked me if i understood why. yes, i think now i understand why.
