I have been thinking of a "davit" for pulling crab pots. I don't know much about them, weight, installation, electric, mechanical, SSteel vs Aluminium? Anyone have any information?

Been checking several out as a future addition to my boat. One that appears to be best value is sold by Cushman Boats up in Hoodsport, Wa (800-877-5244). They have gas powered, electric, or manual pull versions. 2" Aluminum daivit can hoist 250#. The manual version is approximately $100.... with mounting hardware and pulley will total approx $125. They can also serve as a downrigger. Good luck.

Captn,
I have a Folbey davit system that I bought at Fishermans Marine. It is stainless steel with injection molded mounting brackets. It is a high quality system but also expensive.
Blubeast is on the money with Cushman ( www.cushmanboats.com (http://www.cushmanboats.com) ). They will be at the sportsman show. You should check them out.
