View Full Version : Trask Hatchery... I just have to put this out there

When I first put up a free guides trip contest, I get the names and addresses of over 100 people, the very first day, hoping to win. The numbers of hopefulls builds from there.
It has been 3 days, and I have only 70 letters, signed, concering support for the Trask Hatchery. (http://www.ifish.net/hatchery.html)
I appreciate all that have taken the time to fill them out.
Please, if you have just a spare second, come on over to The support letter (http://www.ifish.net/hatchery.html) and sign up. It only takes a moment. You could win more than a free guided trip.
You could win the assurance that you may have something in your rivers to fish for in your, or your children's future.
Thank you,
Jennie

You're right Jen, procrastination is a killer to our fishing/political world.
I just signed the letter.

Just filled it out Jenni...even though I've only been on the Trask once with no luck.
Sounds like a good cause, and I need a guided trip to help learn me about steelhead!!
Trout...check.
13# Silver Salmon...check.
Sturgeon...check (thanks to Slutgoddess)
Steelhead...no check.
Chinook...no check.

This is for a good cause and is painless.
Come on fishermen, show your support for an excellent cause, your voice does matter.

Sorry Jen,
I haven't been on the board much lately. Consider my part in signing the letter done.

Even if you disagree with Mr. Myron - - you have nonetheless misquoted him in the letter. That isn't fair, so I can't sign that.
I HATE being misquoted. :depressed:

I signed Jen, I think though it maybe should have also had support for N Fork Nehalem, Cedar Creek, and Salmon River Hatcheries besides the two already mentioned.

I am waiting on Jerry's response to the claim it was misquoted.
I didn't write the letter, so I don't feel free to edit it just yet.
Thanks,
Jen

And Gone... You are right.
I'll talk to Jerry about that too.
I'll send the letters in, as signed for the previous, and perhaps we'll do another one for the whole round up.

Jennie, not to put too fine a point on it, and it is your bboard afterall, but to say -- "You could win the assurance that you may have something in your rivers to fish for in your, or your children's future." -- is a huge overstatement.
ODFW says that 90% of the fall chinook are wild. The chum and cutts are 100% wild. The situation would be even better if we hadn't spent hundreds of millions on hatcheries while virtually ignoring everything else.
I suggest leaving the if-it-weren't-for-hatcheries-there'd-be-no-fish nonsense to Jerry Dove and his crew.

I agree to disagree with you on some points, Gary.

Signed it too. Sorry so late. I agree though that all the hatcheries need to be kept. Wish the lawmakers would simply cut their salary and we would probably have enough for everything.

hawgcatcher,
do you know how much a legislator gets paid?
(Hint: it's one reason only rich people can run for the office.)

Signed and delivered.
Here's an idea to spread the message even more. After reading this, if your using Netscape, go to the File menu, and select "Send Page"...this will bring up an email window...you can directly email this page to all your fishing buddies and they can click on the story link and sign the letter as well. If your using Internet Explorer, you'll have to copy the URL and paste it into the message section of an email, then send it to everyone!

Moving this back to the top..........Come on guys, if we put as much enthusiasm into this cause as we have been on whether or not Mr. Myron's (Oregon Trout) comments were appropriate or who has the better truck Ford, Chev or Dodge we ought to be able to swing a vote or two here wouldn't you think. Come on guys, lets give them something to think about in Salem......let your voice be heard.

Must've missed it the first time. Thanks for the bump, Jennie. Most of the places that I fish aren't supported by hatcheries however with an increasing population, I understand the neccessity. More opprotunity there=fewer people here.
